I reckon it was a publicity stunt. Quotes in the story I saw were from British Airways (the sponsor), as opposed to anyone from the actual company, and they're not pressing charges.

Mind you, I'm a massive cynic about most stuff these days...

If it were a publicity stunt I would have thought they would have made a much better video. It could have been filmed a lot better and still looked like an amateur video for effect, but that was really poor if it was intended as a publicity stunt.

Cynicism aside I hope these base jumpers strapped a gopro to their heads and a better video will become available.

When I heard of the stunt I immediately thought it was a stunt as well. If security is so lax that someone could break in and get to the top I dread to think what terrorists / vandals could do.

I didn't realise every school child in Brighton and Hove gets a free ticket

Adult visitors will pay £15 for the ride – or £13.50 if booked in advance online – while pensioners and students will be asked to pay £12.50 per ticket (£11.25 in advance). Tickets for children under 15 will cost £7.50 (£6.75 advance) and under-fours will go free.

Locals, however, will be offered half price tickets as part of a membership scheme announced this week.

Anyone with a BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN41 postcode can register for an annual membership at just £1 – a nominal fee to cover the cost of the membership card. Students studying at either of Brighton and Hove’s two universities will also be eligible.

That card will then entitle them to adult, student or senior tickets for just £7.50. Under 15s will be just £5.

It will look ok when it's always moving and at night lit up. They should have a lightning attraction spire added to the top. Would make a great photo for anyone catching a strike.

Not against my opinion. I have always championed it, and think it will be absolutely brilliant when it is finished. I cycle past it every day, and it has been great to see it develop and progress.

I'm another one who likes it. I do a lot of walking, so I quite like seeing landmarks from miles and miles away.

I'm not particularly fussed about actually going on it. But I like it now its there.

I love it, as I've probably said on here before. An amazing feat of engineering too. Mrs Bobkin bought me tickets (or vouchers to exchange for tickets) for my birthday – can't wait to go up there.
