Because of this...
But ignoring this
Exciting Irish prospect Aaron Connolly has taken another massive step forward after extending his contract at Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the 2021/22 season... The length of the deal shows the trust that the club has in me

“I’ve trained with the first team the odd time and I travelled with them to Cardiff so he’s kind of given me my chance in football really, it’s not a big chance but he gave me my debut at the start of last season. I’ve gotten a few minutes in the cup this season but he’s a good manager to work with.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says under-23 star Aaron Connolly is on his radar after an impressive start to the season - "We're very aware of Aaron's strengths. He's somebody from the age he first played who has always scored goals.
Hughton gave Connolly his debut at 17, signed him to a 3 year contract, had him training with the first team squad and sent him out on loan to get experience. He was clearly a player Hughton was preparing to bring into the first team squad.
If Hughton was still in charge today Connolly may not have played - we don't know - the one thing that cannot be claimed is that Hughton would definitely not have played him. Given the approach of Hughton of preparing younger players properly and getting them ready for first team action and the progress Connolly has made in the past few months - there is every possibility that he could have been playing today if Hughton was here today. Its not like Potter has been flooding the first team with players from the U23s.
