We must win these matches if we want to finish in those European spots again, otherwise it is going to be mid-table. At least we have other cups to compete in, but we really should be doing much more - honestly this a downgrade from last season.

Yes unfortunately the squad is just not quite as good as last season. A Few managers have got the better of de zerbi this season as well (who is nowhere near ready for man u , Madrid , Barca etc !!)

We lost Trossard, Mac allister and Caciedo and to be perfectly frank, we haven’t replaced any of them. We have lots of injuries but that papers over cracks. adringa’s control was shocking today. Pedro I am not convinced of yet and Mitoma had a poor game

I don’t condone Veltman’s actions, but he definitely went down very easily a few times using his experience to win free kicks. Ref was such a clown he fell for it. Every time a player goes down they should have to go off for 5 minutes as soon as they’re up.

I’m with you. Not sure how anyone could say we dropped points because of Steele. Very odd.
Its really odd. They have a vendetta and spout the same shit every time we don't win. Verbruggen may or may not be a better keeper and the club may or may not ultimately want an upgrade on Steele but he's to blame for very few goals, makes few mistakes and is a vital cog in the way that we play and that has brought unprecedented success.

So you want refs (not medically qualified) to book players for injuries they deem faked?
No, if the game is stopped because a player stays down the trainer/physio should automatically have to come on and the player leave the field of play for 30 seconds. A referee is not qualified to assess injuries. Do this and you'd eliminate most fake injuries.

Yep. You've got it.

(VAR could and should help by reviewing it - was he actually touched, for example, or was the point of contact anywhere near that face he is clutching)
People can be injured without being touched by another player, you can jar a back/neck by falling etc etc

It is unworkable and suggesting giving refs/var the responsibility to decide injuries, is as I said a complete nonsense.

I agree, they should leave the field, which they do now in some cases and should be increased.

You can not get refs to book players for going down.

Also, players frequently get knocks which hurt like hell and physically prevent you from running/staying on their feet, then the pain subsides and you’re able to continue. Not fake, very real, and unavoidable

And that is one grammatical nightmare… forgive me, I’m pretty dosed up!

We were excellent first half - really played well. Fulham’s tactics then helped to disrupt our flow which is annoying and the ref played a huge part in it too by buying it. Did us no favours today. We are slightly off the high pace of last season due to losing players, rotation and injuries. It’s not quite as consistent and not quite clicking yet.

Loads of positives to take but 2 points dropped imo.

The thing is I think we’re doing fine. Above Man United and Chelsea (and Palace, naturally) in the league, competing well in Europe and coping with a number of injuries.

Pre-season I said top ten and reaching the knockout stages of the Europa, along with possibly a domestic cup run, would be a good transitional season having lost £200m of key players.

This is very much a learning season and we are going along very nicely. Point at Everton, win at Ajax, then we’ve got two very winnable games against Sheffield United and at Nottingham Forest.

I think we are in a very good position to achieve what I consider a good season.

Goal aside I thought Ferguson was pretty awful today. Every ball bounced off him and he seemed to fall over rather easily. Pedro held the ball up more in his little cameo.
Baleba is looking good and is very strong, shooting a bit wayward but hopefully that will come

We qualified for Europe after picking up zero points against Fulham last season, so we are plus one in that respect now.
