I agree, but he certainly has to do 'something'.....whatever that entails. ( I mean Fab, not Tony.)
For Tony - CB, spare right back, Fergie replacement, please.
For Fab - bench Lewis, like you should've done 3 games ago. Time in training for the defence to get its mojo back.
Everything starts at the back. We've gone from excellent (with no alternatives on the bench), to league 1 youth team. In a month

Mitoma is normally accompanied by 3 defenders.
Beat his man twice in the second half, when there wasn't two other defenders backing him up.
I know they often double up on him but they don't have three following him around all match, the ball out to him is way to slow, and he is now checking inside and seems indecisive on the ball, last season he was skipping between them with confidence.

That wasn't thw point you were making.
Mitoma will takw on his man and beat him, when it's the best option.

Two seasons ago, he had more opportunities
Prem defences adapt to smother the most threatening players.

Imho it’s because we play so many in advanced positions when we are in possession. It makes the opposition drop in numbers and thus there is no space to run into.
We are our own worst enemies right now. Playing 3-1-6 when we have the ball may seem positive but it kills all the space available.
I think this is a key point - we didn't control midfield because we had too many players high up the pitch, also because Palace worked their socks off and got back into position very fast.
So, our attacks are snuffed out and we look SOOO vulnerable against fast breaks.

I am not going to go over the previous comments and I am not going to throw toys from a pram. I had stated before that the depth of squad is quite frightening, this I still believe, although our lack of serious cover, or, indeed first team options at central defence has become a worry. I feel for Igor, having been player of the month, he is now placed firmly back on the subs bench. Our errors today were primarily down to our Captain, Lewis Dunk. This guy has been a Brighton stalwart, he is Brighton through and through. Unfortunately today he was made to look Championship class, not Premiership. The latest injury has probably set him back more than we know, however our manager cannot and should not persist with the centre back partnership. Between them and the goalkeeper they looked like they had introduced themselves to each other in the tunnel before kick-off. Lewis has lost a yard of pace, Lamptey also. Joel Veltman is a streetwise defender and can cover better for a lack of pace. Igor needs to brought back to the team sheet, Dunk needs a spell in the reserves (for fitness). We need an outstanding centre-back with pace more than any other position. P.s. I think Enciso put in the urgency needed. Do not get rid of him.

Especially since Fab rushed Lewis back

Agreed. We've spent a ton of money on attackers and midfielders whose performances are average at best (yes, I know it's early days for some).
I'm seeing little impact from Adingra, Minteh, Gruda.
On the other hand our defence looks woeful - I know Veltman and Ferdi were missing, but we need more cover and/or a different set up. Lamps is not a defensive full back, and Dunk looks slower every match, plus we are making too many errors when teams break against us. I think Dunk's shakiness is affecting JPVH or vice versa 😬
Apart from that...all good 😂

A great win ,which I didnt expect tbh.
once we wethered the first 20 minute onslaught in the second half I knew we’d get a third on the breakaway.
Very happy tonight and hopefully our season is turning 👍

OMG is Lewis Dunk the new scapegoat? One of our own! Seriously?

He’s not helped by Estupinan’s role seeming to change every 45 minutes, and teams realising that our right hand side is a weakness offensively.

He is still a better playing than he is showing under this manager he has gone backwards and so have many, the manager and coaches need him being confident and at his best. Do you remember the lad March, he appeared to always be low in confidence until the right manager got the most out of him?
I see Mitoma exactly the same and for us to get a Europe place this season Fabian needs to get the very best out of them all and as a team, I don't believe Fabian is of the level that we all hoped. Unless he can admit he is to blame for many of the recently dropped points and learn by them quickly, we could be below mid table at the end.

Jesus, just back from the game - what a shitshow. No cutting edge from the forward line today, we were very poor and made them look quite good. On to the next game and an away win at West Ham. This league is an unforgiving one
