There was some strong analysis of the cup game that said we went narrow to force them to push the ball out wide, where we let them have possession. With no striker, we marked the cross options out of the game, so they had to recycle the ball back again and again. Lots of possession no threat.

Then we press together to win the ball high up the pitch or use the ball over the top as our core attacking options.

And it looked to me like that is exactly what we did (again) last night. I'm not sure it will work so well against sides with strikers, but it was a dream last night.

What a game. What a team.

Edit: here is the video. Well worth a watch:

It was very effective over the last two games.

I am wondering how we will set up against Southampton, I’ve followed Brighton long enough to know how this typically goes after a good spell

My TERRY loved every minute even though his constant BOOING of CUCKOORELLA got on my NERVES. I'm just glad they didn't show Dick TIGHT in the crowd

Fantastic evening, great result and a big shout out to the North Stand - atmosphere in there was really good and as loud as I’ve heard for quite a while - everyone got together to support the team and I couldn’t hear the Chelsea tossers at any time during the game, especially after the 3rd goal went in😂😂

Got to say that was a lovely result to get up to. Got to see the last 25 minutes and it looked very, very comfortable.

The last seven days has been a terrific reaction to the Forest game. Now to push on and get some more consistency in performances.

And Mitoma, my god, what a player.

Tactically excellent first half, Minteh dropping into right back has really worked.

I loved that. He's got the pace to protect us. 2 goals and helping at the back, well worthy of his MOTM.

Well done to Fab and his team for working on our previous weakness behind the fullbacks.

That's generous. Even Mrs T worked out by September that we were struggling at the back against pace.

Last night’s tactics felt specific to the personnel available and the opposition. Not sure I’d be expecting that tactically in all games going forwards. Lamptey isn’t a left back so skewing the CBs over to him gave him protection without needing Mitoma to do what Minteh did on that side. Lamptey has gone from liability into fine performances - it’s been a transformation of his form. Credit where credit is due I think, and for players like Minteh to perform to those instructions that well shows it was well drilled and coached during the week.

Georginio's been substituted to give him some time to get his phone ready for post-match. :)

His post match video was a work of art. It's all over the place, but keeps him in camera, and somehow works.

You can see why some Dirty fans were so sad to see him leave. He's so joyous, and his close control is physics bending.

Thought the long passes from the back were more effective than our usual slow build up. If we didn’t win the first ball we usually won the second ball.

And for all those who wet themselves after our debacle to Forest - remember however shit it was, it was only a loss of 3 points.

We'd have taken a draw there, so only really a loss of 1 point, with a battering to the GD. But a record defeat still sucks.
