My normal optimism is dimmed for this one, if only for the fact that we defend so badly at corners let alone against a team that seems to have perfected the art of scoring from them. We may summon up the spirit to give Arsenal a game in open play but set pieces alone should enable Arsenal to see out a comfortable win.

It's got draw written all over it, hasn't it?

We keep our winless run going.

They keep their undefeated run going.

We keep our "first game of the new year" run going.

Everyone goes home unhappy.

Everything except the last bit, I’d be delighted with a draw. They’re much, much better than us

I hadn’t seen this stat before- shows how far we’ve dropped off since selling our best midfielders and RDZ throwing his toys out the pram 12 months ago:

  • Hürzeler's side have scored just 21 goals at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League in 2024; 25 fewer than in 2023.
But that stat includes our poor form under Roberto upto May too!

"Ali Bruce-Ball will be at the Emirates later" states R5's Janet Quasie a moment ago.

"But at the Amex later, where Arsenal are going today" mentions Bruce in his reply. :lolol:

I reckon we can win this one. They are a very good side but I'm hoping the respectable draw at Villa gave the boys some confidence.
I cannot stand Arteta or Arsenal for that matter, so if we manage to dent their title hopes, I'll be buzzing.

We all know that we play good attacking football and will get into a lot of scoring positions but what we haven't been getting at home matches is luck; where have the opposition own-goals and keeper howlers gone? Isn't it time that an Enciso shot heading for the corner flag deflects past the keeper? Of course we will get more luck if we stop dithering in front of goal and get our shots away quicker. Fingers crossed that training this week has focussed on that...

I'd like to see the stats on this because I thought our set piece defending wasn't that bad.

Should be on them from the start as they only played Wednesday night. High press and run them into the ground with plenty of pace on the pitch! But we won’t..

We’ll sit off and play the ball around at a leisurely pace
