I thought Bournemouth were the best side at the amex this season and we we did well to win. Lamptey did well against semenya. Gomez looks like he is the real deal and I'm smug that I was calling for welbeck soon after halftime as I felt he could be a game changer.

I hope we both get Europe. Lovely to see a non established side going for it.

I can’t stand Bournemouth. They’re the kid when you join secondary school who has all the gear, acts smug and turns out to have noncey parents who’ve paid for the whole kit on tick.

I tested this analogy on the concourse to mixed reviews but I’m sticking with it. They’re falser than Jordan’s tits.

So I’m obviously delighted.

Agreed, I liken Bournemouth to Orient back in the day, when we couldn’t beat them for toffee, they thought we were rivals, really pissed me off, until we spanked them at their place (i think 3-0) and left them behind.

annoying, F’kn annoying…

Once Howe/Tindall left, it’s only their fans I can’t stand. Sat near them in SW corner for their visit about 4 seasons back … they had quite a few podgy 55 year old men gesturing to Albion fans throughout. With one song the tedious “Reddddd Army”. Their fan who posted here kept banging on about allegedly taking the North Stand 55 years ago and making the Albion run away.

Midweek evening game, until public transport to and from the Amex improves for these games attendance will only go in one direction.
Not hard to get there and a little delay getting back. People look for any excuse not to go. Understand it for those travelling from outside Sussex but not really and excuse for those closer (other than of course the kiddies for whom it is a school night).

Whilst I have always appreciated your analogies, I have to respectfully say that one isn't among the best.

Most of the clubs in this league run on a degree of tick. I mean we got here initially because of a very benevolent uncle.

I'd say more that Bournemouth are the kid from the council estate who turned up in the smartest gear and the best study aids because his parents knew who to ask and realised that they could get some second hand stuff that was as good as new. They also knew which gear that wasn't in fashion would soon be.

The big kids got pissed off and started picking on him only to discover his dad was a boxing trainer and the weedy nerd could easily break your nose with one flick. They now avoid him and have gone to ask their rich daddies for more- only to find out that daddy has got into trouble with HMRC, and that whilst Master Muff is holidaying in Barcelona in the October half term after he won the national spelling competition, they'll be at aunties in Bexhill.

Good for any team that makes Europe whilst Manchester United and Tottenham etc (although I'm not so badly disposed towards Tottenham as they don't have so many glory hunters) languish in oblivion.

It's wonderful, just for the meltdowns. A while ago I asked a Brighton based United fan why he didn't support the Albion. 'because they are shit' the glory hunter replied. Err, yeah, about that...

Huge queues still at Brighton station
There were none at around 6.25. We literally walked on to the first train and got a seat.

The 7.30 kick off tends to concentrate everyone who can’t leave work early with people drinking in town and squeezing one more in. So the larger queues build up later.

The 8.00 kick off is easier to get to in comparison, but then you get bigger issues going home as 10pm is the start point for homeward travel and people struggle to make London and west coast connections.

I walked into Brighton station at 7. Got a train within 10 minutes & was in my seat 5 mins be before kick off. Also left on the whistle, got a train about 9.40 & in my front door 10.15. A very successful & enjoyable visit to the Amex

We weren't in the same divisioon in 1970.
Sept 1 1973. 0-2
I was at that game. We arrived a bit late and couldn't get past the SW corner concourse. All I saw of the match was Powney (if it were he) picking the ball out of the goal in the South.
What a waste of two shillings (it was 10p by then).

Wasn't two shillings 10p in 1973 ? Not that it matters, but I thought a shilling became 5p. I seem to remember them.

You disappoint me, I thought you would have been making this point after a free kick award that was clearly a nothing challenge in the second half. Come on buddy, I've had to hang around for the ref debate tonight.

Only just in!

Two corners one for each side he was the only person in the stadium who didn't see what happened. He also gave a number of decisions that the players from both sides looked confused about.

Three possibilities, all before my Albion time. All I know is that the Plucky nsc’er said that we ran away from him and his mates as they took the Goldstone NS with ease. Apparently.

He did seem to want the game to flow and there was the odd 'play on' call that surprised me a little. But he was consistent in that no team got the rub of the green there. As regards corners, I was watching on that there telly box and all the corner close ups which tend to cover each decision didn't show a wrong call. One I didn't understand, but the replay showed it had been called correctly.
