Bus drivers do have a very stressful job, having to drive a big, long vehicle through our crowded City, having to deal with other motorists, cyclists and pedestrian who just step out into the road.

Then they have their timetable to try and stick to, with the 'spy in the cab' just in case they run early but if they lurk in a stop to be on time then passengers moan. Oh, and the passengers....most are polite & friendly but not all. If just 1 in a 100 was rude & aggressive then they would encounter a few every day and then there are the drunks, the screaming kids, the schoolkids throwing rubbish about, the women who eventually realise they have to pay a fare, now where is that purse?

It's small wonder drivers are stressed and there's a fair bit of serious illness, like heart problems. It wasn't so long ago that a driver collapsed at the wheel. Of course, it was 'his decision' to work. Well how many of us work for an employer who doesn't want you to work if you are sick, but.... It's a bit like when you ask the Mrs if it's ok to have a night out with the lads and she says 'fine'.

I use the busses a lot. nearly all the drivers are great, some aren't and some you just catch on a bad day but I really appreciate them and it's a sorry state if they are forced to take action.
