Not sure that this changes much really. He is under contract and he has REQUESTED a transfer. We don't have to accept and won't unless they offer a fee we think is acceptable...

If we get what we want he goes, if not he doesn't. We can now accept slightly less as we no longer have to pay him a loyalty fee. It's a ploy to try and facilitate the move, nothing more nothing less. Not sure why people are getting so upset?

I think this is far closer the mark tbh. Also on ssn they were saying that scumderland hadn't had any offers for Fletcher yet!

So Sunderland are trying to sell Fletcher and Wickham? Who are they going to play upfront then? Altidore is the only one left and he is rubbish.

Things could get messy if they sell Fletcher for £9M or £10M as they would then have funds to swoop for Leo.

For me the whole issue regarding Liam is to get as much as we can, and in this area I have every faith in TB and chums. I personally feel a move to Sunderland will go sour in several ways over the coming months but Liam has played some superb games for us and must obviously put his and his family's future first.

Best of luck, but not Sunderland IMHO.

They would be very foolish to do that. Fletcher has scored one in three in the Premier League for some pretty rubbish sides over the last four seasons. As much as I rate Ulloa he is not proven at that level.

Whatever we get, we get.

To me, it's a loss, of course it is, but not a life changer.

I'd be really pissed off however if any one of Ince, Ulloah, PIG, or Calders were to go.

Ok sorry, just get annoyed that players sign contracts and think they can walk away when it suits their pockets.
Not to bothered tho, ince is just as good if not better.

It's not just players. Managers do it too. I would love to see a rule that the player or manager leaving under contract has to buy out the rest of their contract from their own pocket. But it will never happen as the new club will always pay for it.

Good luck Liam - rightly voted player of the season twice. Let's make sure we get decent money for him, reflecting his value to us and how far he has come as a player over his years at the club.

I'm still struggling to get to grips with all of the goodwill still being extended towards Poyet and co. Promotion was ours to lose and thanks to Poyet we lost out spectacularly. He then tried to make our club look like the bad guys with all of that 'Sacked while I was on tv nonsense'. Now he's raiding us for a couple of our better players at a crucial point in our season which could see us missing out yet again.

I hope he fails miserably with Sunderland.

Gus said we had to wait 18 months before signing him and the £2M we paid for him would have been the equivalent of £8M had he been a home grown player purchased from an English club.
