You were quick off the mark, Joey!

That's Vale's season over then!?! :lolol:

I was hoping for a play off game against Nobby.

Maybe he'll support us again?

why did he go..its says on amicable terms ..or was he given the spanish ?

Who'd have thought when he left us in 99 that when he left Vale, BHA would be sitting one place above them.........

Strange - healthy position in Div 2 - sounds like he's got another job lined up - can't believe the "mutual consent" bit unless there's compensation in the pipoeline (and Vale need the cash)

Manager on his way

Port Vale Football Club today announced that Brian Horton ends his five years as manager by mutual agreement with immediate effect.

The decision by both parties allows the club to pln for the immediate and long term future and also gives Brian the freedom to seek a further position should one arise.

The parting is on amicable terms and Club Chairman Bill Bratt said: "We would like to thank Brian for all the hard work he has put in at the club in what could be best described as difficult times. All the fans would like to thank him for the trip to Cardiff on the LDV Final and leaving us fighting for a play off position. I'm sure they'll join me in wishing him all the best for the future."

Brian said: "I've enjoyed my time at the club =, bioth as player and as Manager. Times have been difficult but despite this, I think it is fair to say we've had some great times. Whoever the Club chooses to take over has a great set of lads to work with. I would like to thank everyone for the support I've had in the past and look forward to returning to Vale Park in the future in whatever capacity that may be."

Apart from Spurs and Grimsby is there any other vacant managers jobs ?

Or does the existing manager not know his position is about to become available.

My guess is a bust up between manager and board, position is unteniable. Easy way to hide bust from press is announce a split by mutual consent.

I'm very surprised by this,i thought he was doing an excellent job at vale(they've been top 6 most of the season),I hope he get another job soon as he's a very underrated manager who i dont think gets enough recognition for what he acheived with the albion when he was manager; He took us over when we were a piss poor team playing at gillingham in front of one man and his dog.He managed to sign a couple of decent players (hart, barker, culverhouse) and get us playing attractive football in very difficult circumstances.Bearing in mind we finished 2nd bottom the previous 2 seasons i think he got us moving in the right direction again and laid some of the foundations for what adams ultimatley acheived.Respect to the man in my book

Surprised after Port Vale's miracle escape from relegation last year.

Joe Kinnears had his feet under the desk there for a couple of days now.

I can't help but feel Nobby left us in the lurch when he pissed off to Vale. But then we're used to that now.

His contract at Vale expired in the Summer,so I suppose he is having a look round now before as lot more managers get the Gooner at the end of the season.

By Mutual Consent, sounds like what happened to McGhee, anyone know the reason yet McGhee left Millwall whilst they were 8th in Div1 ???

Surprised he has gone now. Having taken them down in his first year, and then until this season never really looking much like going back up, it does seem surprising that he has gone now when they have been having a good season.
