Brezovan has taken vast amounts of pressure off our defence in recent games by coming for, and getting, crosses that he had no right to make.

He's made one costly mistake, which doubtless he is mortified about (you could see that in his reaction at the final whistle on Saturday), sorry but it doesn't justify dropping the bloke, or crucifying him on here IMHO. Outfield players cock up all the time but few people suggest they should be ditched as a result.

Brezovan has been better for us in recent weeks than Kuipers would have been in the same circumstances, because he dominates his six yard box far better.

Will he get us up next season? I have no idea, principally because at this moment in time I'm only focused on us getting the three or so points we need to be absolutely sure we won't get dragged into trouble. Personally, assuming we're probably only going to retain one of our main keepers, I'd release Kuipers, because he's been pretty average for several seasons now, and I don't think the defence are as happy with him in goal as they are with Brezovan. Or at least they don't like being shouted at like complete idiots like Kuipers does to them.

If we do end up getting someone in- well Fon Williams is supposed to be superb, though I have heard he's had a disappointing season. What about Jason Brown? Used to be excellent for Gillingham, and has spent a few seasons at Blackburn without ever really getting much of a run.

Totally agree with this. What I will say about Fon Williams is that he has been an extremely busy keeper this season and with that being the case he is bound to have made some mistakes, that said he would also have had lots of opportunities to shine.

Thank christ a voice of reason, Brezovan has done more than enough to be given a chance and one cock-up has not changed that fact. The defence have actually looked like a defence since he has come in (not taking anything away from Kuipers) and we are better for it

I completely agree with that and a bit of balance and reason is required when assessing all our keepers.

Why do people have such extreme views on keepers? FDM has come in for some very harsh criticism from some on here who would have crucified him for the two or three cock-ups that Brez has made since he's been here but not said a word about Brez.

Equally some of the OTT praise of FDM is ridiculous.

In my opinion, both are decent third-tier keepers and if they were much better, they wouldn't be with us. As such they will make mistakes...accept it.

FDM is now at an age which means he won't improve. Brez might and I hope he does but, again, he is not yet quite as good as some make out. Having both of them in the squad next season would be OK for me but I'd like to see us in a position to be able to bring in a keeper of an altogether higher standard for a Championship push.

Will we be able to afford it though?

He has been brilliant at coming out and commanding his box.

One slip up (not including Wycombe...) does not suddenly make him rubbish.

I never understand the Brighton fans who treat out goalies like footballing Marmite. They are either viewed as the best keeper in the world (Kuipers) or the worst (Hendeson et al).

The truth is, most goalies we get are League One keepers and will make the odd mistake or have parts of their game which is not as strong as other parts.
