Its funny isn't it, how easily the Brexiteers have opted so enthusiastically for the whole 'global Britain' schtick. It's been the forces of globalisation that have rendered many traditional industries to be no longer viable and of course has unleashed the global population migrations that that were such a big factor in the Leave vote in the referendum. And yet here they are singing the praises of it.

Their 'global' impulses seem to be based on two factors

- their dislike of being constrained by and within the EU (we're bigger than that) and

- a version of 'global Britain' that harks back to the days of Empire. A kind of white global Britain, punching above it's weight and rocking up in the Royal Yacht to be greeted by (what was Johnson's phrase?) pickaninnies with melon smiles.
Pretty much what you say.

It's a big frightening world now with all this " Woke " stuff going on, too many want to go back to being in Bournemouth in 1970 when there were plenty of menial jobs, no immigration to speak of and when Dad's Army and Love thy Neighbour was peak viewing and we still had a Navy.

How's Tim Martin getting on now he can't get any microwave operators?

I'll tell yer what, if we win tonight I'll let you chalk it up as a Brexit dividend, without it we'd never would have had the bulldog spirit. EU membership has been terrible for our lads....

Great England performance and fantastic win with superb patriotic support! I am buzzing!
Nothing to do with Brexit jingoism - although nationalists will try and claim it....
But this is to do with Brexit

Oh bless, you're back on this thread under that account. So what do you think would be the best alternative to the unimplementable Northern Ireland protocol that you voted for :dunce:

Hope the job hunting is going better

It really takes little time for the Brexit jingoistic nationalists on here to try and claim ownership of any cause for national pride. I suppose it is their way of offsetting those who blame Brexit for everything. Likewise they make laughably pathetic attempts to undermine the patriotism of the rest of us. Anything to change the subject from the thread title....

More importantly they are desperate for a 'win' and try and link their tribal loyalty to any good thing...

Now prepare for the next verbal 'lunge' from our very own Brexiteer Vinnie Jones.

If Cummings had thought of that during the referendum campaign, he would have used it.

Looks like the UK government gave their heads a wobble and asked the EU for another 3 month extension rather than breaking International law, its been granted

Anyway it gives NI customers another 3 months to find a friendly supplier of bangers in the Irish Republic

Britain agreeing to being controlled by undemocratic EU rules for another 3 months in order to have a sausage ?

Who would have thought suggesting, negotiating and signing off a border in the Irish Sea could cause so much trouble ? Never mind, I'm sure Johnson and crew will be working on an alternative

Taking back control :dunce:

so i've got it right: having lack of available labour (to the detriment of UK businesses) means people we don't know (supposedly, according to a specific source) geting slightly higher wages, makes empty supermarket shelves and higher food prices worth it.

But don't dare call us stupid, else we'll continue harming ourselves, that'll teach us

The labour shortage in hospitality is especially desperate. The government has mishandled furlough and Brexit just pours petrol on the fire.
