he's 64 ....no one wants him ....he had a career in commercial network admin ....got laid off 3 years ago , hasn't worked since. my comment was referring to our benevolence towards new comers whilst those who have worked and paid taxes for 30 years get not a lot ......he's holding out till november when his pension kicks in , i think he's got an industry pension also but it won't start till he's 65

I think I'm starting to understand where you are coming from

(I've been paying tax for well over 40 years now, and still paying it, but personally, would still prefer to see it going to the most in need, rather than those who are closest genetically to me)

yep Aussie politics is trying hard to catch up ....3 one nation delegates were followed to a strip joint by an under cover Al Jazeerah reporter and filmed groping strippers and making lewd suggestions , also recorded some pretty damning audio , the other goon has posted on his FB page some semi pornographic artwork with also lewd suggestions....politicians huh...?? 200 k a year for life not enough to keep them on the straight and narrow.

A pleasant antidote to this thread for me this morning: 90 minutes as a LibDem teller at a polling station. Business was quiet some of the time and the Conservative alongside me, charming, understated and furious with the government for the shambles he said they're inflicting on everyone, described himself as a 'reluctant leaver'. He hadn't been confident of Britain's ability to keep the EU federalists at bay.

It would be easy for me to claim he has changed his mind about Brexit. He may have done, he may not have done, although he did say that a two-tier EU now looks more possible than before, and that such a structure would have been no bad thing for the UK. He didn't demure when I suggested that Britain has a lot of soulmates across northern and eastern Europe, EU members who saw the UK as the leader of a drive towards a different form of European Union.

If I had to guess I'd suspect he wouldn't have voted Leave if he knew the troubles it would cause. Whatever, he restored my faith in the possibilities of quiet discussion.

why am i being a hypocrite ...i am bemoaning the fact that thousands of migrants move to the uk and are given everything a citizen is entitled to before they have contributed in any way to society ...sure maybe 10% of these migrants may turn out to be oncologists , radiologists , dentists , orthopeadic surgeons ....sure that may be the case , but unfortunately scenes played out in numerous cities recently have indicated that there are also some rather unsavoury elements involved.
lets move forward to the subject of my two older siblings ...one an invalid after 50 yrs plus of hard , manual labour, hip replacement , dole recipient ....the other a washed up , burned out academic who spent 3 years in Afghanistan in the early 70's and still says they were some of the most fulfilling , enriching years of his life.
