My internet security tells me not to,and the ITK people on here are always telling us to trust experts.Some sites will only give you very basic access to their sites from a non-HTTPS site.They might as well be talking in Pushtu as far as I'm concerned,but then I didn't go to university.

And you know as well as I do, that if the incumbent government decide a vote (referendum or GE) is in their political interests then a vote is what we will get. Would you best against article 50 being extended at this point in time ?

Any sort of new vote would still need to go through the process though. The Electoral Commission has already stated that legislation for a new vote would have to be voted on at latest in early September to have any chance of a vote happening before 29th March. Unless of course you're now suggesting experts could be wrong ?

A50 being extended is a possibility but highly unlikely to happen before we leave and therefore be defunct.

No it isn't. There will be a backlash if lifelong Labour voters who voted Leave (particularly in the North of England and Wales) are betrayed by Labour. Many of these voters will turn to UKIP as they did in 2015, being listened to is more important than voting for a party cos your granddad did.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Firstly, Labour are not reneging on Brexit, they are talking about a 2nd referendum after two years of complete shambles. Secondly, it'll be a judgement call on whether a short term bloody nose from some of the electorate in constituencies they are nevertheless rock solid might be offset by results in pro-EU marginals that see them gain seats they otherwise might not get.

Well, I have and I haven't - much like you - because people voted leave for a variety of reasons. I mean, if you ask a jobless bloke on a council estate if he'd like Brexit and you tell him the status quo is all the fault of the EU, why wouldn't he vote leave? It's not like the status quo is working well for him. But that's not the reason Jacob Rees Mogg voted leave is it?

No, fair point. I struggle to believe that all 27 nations in the EU could agree to that, the EU pass the legislation and all members to do likewise before the 29th March though.

Preparatory legal frameworks have already been made by The European Parliament in anticipation of us requesting it for one reason or another. 'Done deal' was the phrase used in The Times by a diplomat on the issue if it arose.

As I said earlier in the thread, if we are going to blow our own brains out economically, and go 'no deal', then the EU will have a hell of a cleaning bill, being our nearest neighbours.

They would certainly give us an extension to avoid that. (Full payments, no influence, obviously)

This is absurd. When referring to America in common parlance, we are referring to the United States. Everybody knows that.

So if you say "meat is better in America", there isn't a single person on this board who would construe that as "Oh look, Two Braincells thinks the meat is better in Argentina and Canada". Because if that is what you had meant, you would have said "meat is better in Argentina and Canada". Not prattled on about all you racists who don't like America, and having it explained to you the whole issue surrounding the USA and what it does to it's meat, only 2 or 3 posts later to then insist you meant completely different countries.

So when Leonard Bernstein wrote "Okay by me in America" about Puerto Ricans searching for a better life, his lyrics were an absolute NONSENSE, given that they were already IN America.

I did love the Eddie Murphy film 'Coming to America' though, about the entitled African prince, seeking a bride in Peru.

And Good for Donald Trump, too, trying to make all of 'America' great again. Big challenge, though not sure how much influence he'll have in Venezuela or Cuba.

(And, to be fair to him, he may have had reason to show a bit of concern).

So did I, and regarding the six months between referendum legislation and the actual legislation my understanding is (I haven't googled it) that this is but a recommendation.
