So, what do you think this refers to? " it is hard to see how the Conservative Government of the 1980s could have done their vital supply-side reforms with those freedoms taken away"

Liam Fox hasn't ruled out the lowering of standards on food i.e accepting US Chlorinated Chicken.

Was in Texas a few months ago and saw the chicken breasts in a supermarket that had turned blue. Didn't eat any meat for rest of the trip

The problem with a certain left leaning persuasion is they have always associated supply-side reform with reducing the power of the trade unions. Anything linked to it is therefore bad.
Still no link to Boris saying getting rid of these rights…………surely it cant be that hard.

All depends if you think Chlorinated chicken is bad for you....The EU dont think the chlorinating is bad for you.......but im sure you knew that

A bit of bleach will have them white again in no time; what you complaining about?

A future trade deal between the UK and New Zealand would also see the issue of chlorinated chicken raise its head, so it's not just an Anglo-American thing.

But you ate meat before the supermarket?
I recall you saying you were going veggie for the whole trip......what went wrong with your virtue signalling?

The irony is that Thatcher would never have left the EU irrespective of her constant grumblings and would have definitely not gone for a referendum. She hated them.

To her the free market was everything and she would have enjoyed watching that market stretching it's boundaries into the old communist block.

If alive today she would just continue being a thorn in the side of those wanting more political integration.

Unfortunately Thatcher's views were far more nuanced that those claiming to inherit her vision.

The mistake remain made was not making more of the fact that Thatcher was one of the EUs main architects.

Not sure that's accurate. According to Charles Moore, her official biographer Mrs T did think we should leave she also told other people the same.

Public to be warned every week over no-deal Brexit
‘Bundles’ issued from August for consumers, companies and holidaymakers

Theresa May is to put the country on a no-deal Brexit footing this summer as she prepares a series of public warnings about the impact of leaving the European Union without agreement.

Consumers and companies will be given detailed advice in weekly “bundles” from the start of next week on how to prepare for “a disorderly Brexit”, under government plans.

Presumably all the warnings will be dismissed as 'Project Fear' by the usual suspects?

So still no evidence they are undercutting these standards or intending to.

"They want rid, so that they can undercut standards everywhere, be it workers rights, health & safety or standards on food/goods"

Provide the links that there are plans for the gov to do so..........dont be hot air and speculation.......just provide the evidence this is happening or the gov is planning it to happen

Not the current Government, the Rees-Mogg, BoJo the clown, chaps who insist we must have a totally free hand. Every time one of them says we can be more competitive, they are saying this.

Looking at the noises coming out of Brussels about her softer Brexit plan I think you're probably right. But then why would they budge. Elements in parliament have been doing the EU's job for them ... insisting the red lines dissolve and making it clear they would accept any deal the EU would offer rather than leave with no deal. I was always hopeful a deal could be made but looking at where we are now a no deal is looking distinctly possible.

The usual suspects would probably welcome the belated preparations as it theoretically shows we are prepared to walk away and not just bend over and take any scraps.

Not revelling but it would be ironic if we ended up with the hardest possible Brexit thanks to a combination of EU intransigence and Remain manoeuvrings in parliament.

Yes, the sound of a bomb going off in business and peoples livelihoods if this happens. Not funny at all, but this what we get from leavers - leave at any cost "as long as we get our freedom".

He knows what this means as well as anyone, he thinks he is being clever by insisting the exact wording you used was not a verbatim quote, but within a couple of pages he will take another post and derive a twisted meaning from it and argue against his own twisted interpretation. This happens whenever he is caught out, he will get pedantic and try and switch the argument to the tiny detail, such as Boris didn't say the exact words, he will not pop up with an alternative interpretation, because there isn't a logical one.
