That 90% figure is in dispute. I have listened to a few nurses on LBC over the weeks, and none of them have mentioned Brexit. If anything it is the working conditions, and I also believe new language tests or something like that has resulted in these extra vacancies.



Where is anybody saying this is in dispute? Im not disbelieving you, but ive not seen any 'dispute' over these figures.

I would rather listen to someone who works in the NHS and see if Brexit really is the issue here or whether it is other reasons.

If you choose to ignore the statistical evidence and instead base your opinion on a couple of phone calls to a radio show that's your prerogative.

You asked for evidence, you ignored the first issue (impact on people on fixed and low incomes), claimed the 90% reduction is in dispute (but provided no evidence to back it up) and base your views on phone ins to a shock jock radio station.

It's a free country and you're entitled to an opinion, even if it is effectively baseless.

You deny it if you want, but it is all over the press, newspapers, radio and TV, but you feel free to carry on denying it.

There was an in depth article on the BBC website yesterday hidden away from the headlines which explained the detail of this. This is actually an agreement to seek a trade deal not the trade deal itself. It sets out the framework for seeking a deal. I thought 'this can't be right, all the headlines suggest a trade deal has been done'. So I went to the EU website and buried deep there it was confirmation that the BBC article was correct.

Show me an example where voting Leave has created economic hardship. There are many other external factors, how about there being too many people and not enough decent jobs to go around. Over population is our biggest problem not helped by free movement from the EU, and immigration from outside the EU.

You do know unemployment is lowest it has been for ages? The argument that immigration takes jobs is wrong. The indicators all suggest things are turning for the worst and I would guess unemployment will shortly increase which ironically will be as immigration drops. Go figure.

My sister is a nurse at Eastbourne and Hastings (yes Hastings Gull, right on your doorstep) the stuff she tells me about the NHS from top to bottom is shocking. A lot of the staff are desperate but carry on because of their professionalism, but many, like midwives are leaving in droves, mental health care is now at dangerous levels with nowhere to put them.
This week alone a teenage mental health patient from Plymouth was sent to Scotland.
From the front line, not a paper, not disputed, facts.
This Government is allowing The NHS and its staff to rot away, something they have been trying to do for years and it seems they are succeeding.

As a percentage of the population (still 1.5 million) yes but our population is rising rapidly which is mainly caused by .. immigration. Also, evidence suggests Immigration does take jobs in times of economic decline.

I can believe it! In 2007 a then colleague of mine with similar issues ended up being sent to the Plymouth area!

That is the deal under discussion recently,with the Remain side of the argument (it's a Brexit thread) saying it's a done deal and me saying it's only an 'agreement in principle',which means no deal has been signed.If the much-respected New York Times says it hasn't been signed,end of argument.Many thanks.

I guess then that Brexit does not exist as we have not yet, and may never, complete the process.

History suggests the immigrant is blamed for economic decline, but is never the major factor. This time, our decline will bizarrely be caused by British citizens voting to leave the EU, with immigration control being a major reason for doing so.

If that is the best you can come up with,I think you need a holiday.The EU/Japan trade deal is an agreement to negotiate terms both sides are happy with,so they can have tariff-free trade some time in the future,but has not been signed.Brexit has been signed under the terms of Article 50,and we are negotiating the terms.Brexit is factual,it exists.EU/Japan trade deal doesn't exist yet,if it ever will.I fully expect us to sign a free trade deal with Japan shortly after we sign up with the USA,both deals well ahead of any Brussels might manage.The guidelines for these deals have been agreed at G20,and shouldn't take a single nation long to sign up to,as opposed to the utterly shambolic 27 squabblers!:thumbsup:

Not being argumentative just want to know the difference,I have not got involved with this side of the argument because I don't know how these deals work, but from where I am at the moment, when we leave I can't see us just walking into these and other countries and cutting a deal that suits us, it seems to me that it doesn't work that way no matter who you are.

Do you think trump will sign any deal where USA are not the main winners? He knows he could say anything to us and we will say yes. He is that serious about our relationship that he sent his daughter to sit next to May at g20 today. Trump didn't turn up. Amazing.
