Will the country be prosperous? I hope so. This may well be the case in the long term. But right now, for someone hunting for a job after leaving university like myself, this result brings a lot of uncertainty. There is a very high chance of a sort term economic downfall, but let's hope this isn't the case. Economic forecasters are notorious for getting things wrong.

This result has really highlighted the difference from the younger and older generations. Polar opposite differences in voting preferences, made for a very exciting and close finish. I'd like to apologise for my outburst, there's no point in crying over spilt milk. It was a late night where we all witnessed history. Let's hope the country got it right, as it's my generation that'll live with this decision for the majority of their lives.

I'm thankful this is over. Both campaigns have been full of lies and incompetence.

Hi Luke, was it not you that stated that your pension would be knackered because of Brexit, firstly you have paid very little in, secondly you have well over 40 years to go and plenty will change. This country did Ok pre EU and will be Ok again.

well, if someone abused you and misrepresented your opinions, would it make you more or less likely to agree with and support them ? I am not saying it is the only reason, far from it. However, the challenge in this campaign was to persuade the undecided. It is quite possible that these people did not buy the idea that voting Leave was ignorant and racist. Perhaps Remainers should have concentrated on making the positive case for EU membership.

I'm sorry, but that's a silly thing to say. Of course a deal will be agreed. You could equally say that as things stand, everyone is going to die of starvation, unless they eat some food.

No, no it really isn't.

The severance is going to take YEARS of negotiation. And when it is done, it is going look appalling from our side because a) a population of 60m is not going to get a better deal from a market of 400m and b) the EU will be keen to make an exit look as unattractive as possible.

In 5 years time, our negotiators (and God help us if they are terrible as Cameron at political negotiation) will come back with a proper shit deal. So bad, that it might even need to be put to a referendum again. At which point it really will be the ill informed and untouched who will insist on pressing ahead with it.

Of course it's not all! I was generalising after seeing the voting breakdown for each age group.

What I find galling... is that anybody over the age of 35 is deemed to be irrelevant in the debate...... my 30 or 40 remaining years are significant thanks.... as is my opinion on how I wish my country to be.

Because nothing screams pro-Europe more than becoming the first country to vote OUT of the European trading bloc.

I don't understand your point. 52% of the people voted to leave the EU. They didn't vote against other close ties with Europe. And 48% voted to stay in the EU. It's very clear that the majority of us want a close relationship with Europe, just not quite half wanting to be governed by the EU.

And when the Scots vote to separate from England, that'll DEFINITELY show the world how much they stand side by side with us.

I'm not sure what Scotland has to do with this.

EU will take a very hard line with us in negotiations, they don't want other member states to think that anyone leaving gets an easy ride.

Ultimately and rightly so the people will win the day, I fear the EU is doomed, more shame for those that have driven an agenda of ever greater political union, it was always going to fail as soon as we drifted away from the Common Market, power greedy politicians are getting all fidgety right now as are the people they serve, but the power has now swung back to the people which is a good thing and perhaps just in time to allay any particular civil unrest, let the unravelling begin.
