Although out of interest Sky News were running a trailer this morning, which had a snippet of David Cameron (remember him, ex PM) saying, the pound will fall and prices will rise. And guess what the pound is lower and imported goods are costing more.

Out of interest, did they show his chancellor saying there would need to be an emergency budget and instant tax rises?

Too true, especially when you look at the 0.5% growth is down to services, with sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture going backwards. However they don't want to look deeper than the headlines and give themselves a pat on the back. There were a number of interesting interviews during the day, which all stated that companies that were importers and exporters were having issues, as the components they import are more expensive making their finished goods more expensive and therefore receiving little benefit from the lower pound.

Especially so when the 'support and assurance' given to Nissan to make this announcement has not been quantified in the slightest.

They still have a duty to work within the framework of our democracy, otherwise what is the point of parliament. Its almost as if May's unelected status gives her the power to do whatever she likes.

Only yesterday it was announced the Heathrow / Gatwick decision would be decided by a cabinet sub commitee. They are making it up as go...

What does the framework of our democracy say about MPs potentially overturning the result of a referendum? I would have thought that the anger that would generate could well propel UKIP into power. Be careful what you wish for.

Forgive me for worrying, I work in financial services, so rather like a lot of people I do worry for my future, rather like those in Sunderland were. There are still no details as yet to the 'support and assurance' given to Nissan.

There won't be an emergency budget and tax rises whatever happens, the government will just keep borrowing instead....

I'd like to know what guarantees and how much liability the Government have given and exposed themselves and us to in this Nissan announcement today.

could it not have just been soothing words? why so certain it must have been a monetry subsidy, it could just be they evaluated the UK is the best place to continue, given investments already made. there was also a suggestion if tariffs come the proceeds of the tit for tat import duties would be diverted to exporters. is it such a disapointment that forecast doom isnt happening that new negatives have to conjured up?
