I cannot stand violent protests, send in the National Guard, one of your mob interestingly suggested seeing as it’s the loyalists kicking off that the government should threaten them with Nationalism with the Irish....

Btw homework time, can you find any posts of mine supportive of NI being part of the Union, not to be confused with Scotland [emoji6]

We don't have a 'National Guard'. Thought an ex-serviceman may know that. So I'm assuming you mean you'd put armed military back on the streets again and think that would resolve the issue with the Irish Sea border ? Obviously from the Boris Johnson school of diplomacy, I'm beginning to see how you ended up voting for Brexit

And I don't think the UK can threaten NI with Nationalism with Ireland, anymore than they can threaten the IOW with Nationalism with France :dunce:

No homework needed, you're a self confessed supporter of the Conservative and Unionist party

Look I really like you and respect you but you have definitely mistaken me with someone who worries about things such as the euro being worth 8p less [emoji23]

No mistake, just pointing out how much the pound has lost. Facts matter.

Mo Mowlam worked so hard to get peace in NI, whilst suffering from cancer. She must be turning in her grave.
The USA is a signatory to the Good Friday Agreement so will have plenty to say on the matter.

Our brexit supporters should try reading the foreign press instead of Murdoch's rags, or Lord Rothermere's (Hurray for the brownshirts) trash and see how those in the world see Britain right now.
Joe Biden winning the US election has snookered Johnson and co.

I don't think the penny has dropped yet for Johnson with regard to Biden and Ireland. Just a couple of weeks ago we saw the US threatening tariffs on the UK for imposing a tax on American tech. Europe was our closest ally, we're now out in the big wide world and no one is queue up to give us favours.

The UK offshore press can try and cover Johnson's lies as much as they like but you can't escape reality

I've been told that Johnson has been 'surprised' by the extent of problems and re-emergence of violence that the Irish Sea Border has caused, but even I find it hard to believe that he was so incompetent that he couldn't work it out. Although, I guess given his well documented laziness and inability to handle any significant amount of detail, it is an explanation for what has happened and I can't think of any others. After all, why would you put yourself in this position intentionally

Certainly a lot of other senior politicians could see what was coming

Major and Blair were right about Brexit and Northern Ireland

The whole horrifying mess puts you in mind of what two former prime ministers predicted in early June 2016 on a visit to Ulster University. While Sir John Major warned a Leave vote would mean “you would end up with having border controls and customs checks”, Tony Blair said leaving the EU “would put Northern Ireland’s future at risk. It would be deeply damaging and a reckless cause.”

At the time, the DUP’s deputy leader Nigel Dodds called this an “irresponsible… attempt to scaremonger and unsettle people and destabilise the situation in Northern Ireland”, adding “of all the claims that have been made about the threats to the UK if we were to leave the EU, I find this claim that Northern Ireland’s political stability is going to be undermined one of the most depressing and disappointing.”

And Theresa May turned down an Irish Sea Border in favour of the Backstop, because of the issues she thought it would cause.

Exactly so, and Johnson was one of those who voted against May's deal a couple of times. The Irish 'problem' has been the downfall of many a politician and looks like it will be again.

I thought the same when one of your own suggested it !

Well maybe you should have taken it up with them at the time ???

I have to say that I am still absolutely stunned that you would put Young working class kids from the British army in danger on British streets to try and address an almighty political cock up that anyone who had given any thought to the situation saw coming, rather than bat the issue straight back to those that created it

No you’re not and for the record I suggested the National Guard, which doesn’t exist you idiot!

It’s a political issue that needs to be resolved by politicians, I guess what with you being headhunted in the past by a top financial institution and your insider information about what Boris thinks you’ll be ready to take over soon[emoji6]

Do you support the violence on the streets?

No Johnson won't lose a single vote now he has the country under the hypnosis of the alternative reality so ably demonstrated by some on here. Scenes of violence and civil unrest will be interpreted as "he stands up for Britain" or the press will ignore the NI tensions and keep on about vaccines instead....

Like so many Brexit supporters on here, you are going round and round in circles. The question was

So what do a couple of ex-servicemen like yourselves think we should do about the escalating violence in Northern Ireland that has occurred as a result of your vote for a border in the Irish Sea. Because it's not going to go away and given the tragic recent history of the military in NI, I would have thought this would probably take priority in your thinking over silly one liners and funny emojis ?

You could ignore it of course, but surely nobody with any pride would do that.
to which you answered (followed by a bit of whataboutism). I have to admit I was going to congratulate you on having the balls to answer and not running away like [MENTION=35289]Baker lite[/MENTION], not realising that you would later claim this answer is a 'joke'

So I pointed out to you (and addressed your whataboutism)

Of course i don't support or encourage violence on the streets which is why I would NEVER have voted for a border in the Irish Sea :dunce:

Let's go back to the very beginning and try once again

So what do a couple of ex-servicemen like yourselves think we should do about the escalating violence in Northern Ireland that has occurred as a result of your vote for a border in the Irish Sea.

If your are now saying that your first suggestion was a joke and it needs a political solution (if that's not a joke), what is that solution

I swear that potty training infants didn't require this much repetition :lolol:

Ironic given this flag claims to be about respecting fallen soldiers then also celebrates the reigniting of a conflict which caused several of them to die...

It doesn’t celebrate the reigniting of any conflict. Go back to specsavers and ask for your money back.
Signpost your dumb triggered thumbers as well

Burnley and similar northern towns are interesting because the Tories targetted the Asian vote. They kept telling them that immigration was going to be reduced, and in Theresa May's words, Europeans were queue jumpers. Asians were told, they were going to find it more difficult to bring relatives over from the Indian sub continent, because of the EU and European workers. A large proportion of Asians voted for Brexit due to this.

Only because I have never seen it, can you share the link to the data please showing what a large proportion of Asians said their reasons for voting Brexit were.
Didnt even realise there was separate polling for Asians
