So the Brexit bill so far will include

The 200bn and counting for 4.5 years of damage to the economy
Bungs to businesses to keep them afloat now their trade has decreased
Legal costs to defend legal actions against the government
Costs of court payouts and settlements. Now the floodgates have opened could run into 10's of billions

Brexiters will no doubt say this is everything they ever wanted but it'll be their kids and grandkids will be the ones who have to pay for it

One of the by products of leaving the EU was putting the Vote Leave government into power.

We are exceedingly fortunate to have had such a experienced and capable team control during the Covid crisis keeping over borders secure (as you would expect of course), minimising damage to the economy and most protecting public health.

Good forbid if we'd put a remoaner in charge like Rory Stewart or even Jeremy Hunt. Hard to imagine the carnage...

I don't expect any of the law suits to get very far, Johnson is fireproof for some reason. When his " relationship " with Jennifer Arcuro was revealed in all its details I thought he might really be in trouble, particularly getting her on to a " Buy British " trade fair or two and authorising all that cash.

Sadly no though, he just shrugs it off with an incoherent ramble of unconnected mumbles and moves on.

Was it Hancock that was found guilty of breaching the Ministerial Code by not publishing details of several PPE contracts? He's still in post. Patel guilty of bullying staff across three departments and still in post.

Sadly there is no accountability any more, the right wing press will suppress any Tory scandal and the BBC is too scared to risk allegations of impartiality to cover it. Where are the screams of anguish on the front page of The Daily Mail about our plucky British Cheesemakers, Fishermen and Hill farmers who are losing millions of Pounds thanks to our dodgy Brexit?....

People voting to 'take back control' of EU immigration will be pleased to see they got exactly what they voted for ...

... along with people who wanted to leave the EU (17.4 million).

Not all the 17.4 million will be happy with the government-chosen type of Brexit.

After all "Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the Single Market".

So we were lied to. A lot should be ( and given time will be ) absolutely furious.

I wonder how many leave voters remembered that quote from 2015 made by someone most people had never heard of compared to statements and answers given by Gove, Boris and the PM during the referendum campaign all who made clear, voting leave = leaving the single market. But yes some probably would prefer a different type of Brexit just like remainers had numerous differing opinions on what role we should play within the EU.

No we have to impose trade barriers and sanctions upon ourselves, trash our economy and switch to inferior trading arrangements with our biggest trading partner to reduce EU immigrartion slightly.

Another day, another lie

Britain has matched just two of the EU’s 13 bans of harmful chemicals since Brexit

Plans to introduce tougher protections for the environment after Brexit have fallen by the wayside, with Britain matching just two of the EU’s 13 bans of harmful chemicals since the end of the transition period, a coalition of green groups warns today. Despite assurances from Brexiteers that the UK would have more stringent environmental rules after it left the EU, Britain will actually have looser regulations on the use of microplastics, lead in PVC windows and rubber pellets on astroturf pitches, which are thought to be carcinogenic.

Last month ministers published the first restrictions to be introduced by the new domestic regulator, UK REACH. The body said it will ban the use of lead in ammunition and some harmful chemicals in tattoo ink, but has no plans to restrict a variety of other substances that are already being targeted by its European counterpart.

Five nights of trouble in Tullyally, two nights of violent disorder in Newtownabbey, unilaterally delaying the implementation breaking International Law, something will need to be done about the NI Protocol and quickly

Violent Northern Ireland clashes spark amid Brexit tensions

Cars were set alight and masked people pelted a police van with petrol bombs in further disorder in pro-British parts of Northern Ireland on Saturday amid rising post-Brexit tensions in the region. Many pro-British unionists fiercely oppose the new trade barriers introduced between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK as part of Britain’s departure from the EU and have warned that their unease could lead to violence.

Other political parties blamed the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) of Northern Ireland First Minister Arlene Foster on Saturday for stoking up tensions with their staunch opposition to the new trading arrangements. “By their words and actions they have sent a very dangerous message to young people in loyalist areas,” Gerry Kelly, a lawmaker from the pro-Irish Sinn Fein party, which shares power in the devolved government with the DUP, said in a statement.

I've no doubt that our well known Unionist and NI protocol supporting Brexiteer, JCFG will condemn these 'undemocratic loons and traitors' and suggest a solution as soon as he finishes his shift ???

I don't think anyone wants this current arrangement to persist, do you? I doubt you would admit it, but I reckon even you would prefer to go back to what we had than limp on like this.

For the past few weeks, he has been unavailable all day after years of being on here all day every day, most unlike him. So you won't get an answer until tonight, if at all.

I still find it strange that as an ardent Unionist who voted for the NI protocol which is now causing the violent Unionist protests in NI he doesn't seem to have any view on it at all. You would have thought he would have an understanding of the situation

Surely he can't want that aspect to continue ?

Did you read that piece?!! Essentially, nothing to do with Brexit, all to do with Covid, and covid related policy decisions.
If you like the author of the piece though, you should have a look at his piece from 20th March (Solly March Day)

"As the dust settles on Britain’s departure nearly three months ago from Europe’s internal market, two things have become abundantly clear. One is that the so-called Trade and Co-operation Agreement to replace previous trading arrangements with the EU is an extremely poor deal for the UK."
