I wonder how many MP’s who voted against May’s deals wish perhaps they had the benefit of hindsight.
.

In their defence think most of these MP's never envisaged any British PM (let alone a Tory PM) would capitulate to Europe and put a customs border in the Irish sea.

But Johnson signed us up to a terrible deal with comprimises our sovereign state of the UK.

Not forgetting the minor detail of him winning a General Election by a landslide

Since most of her Majority Government who voted against her consisted of Johnson and friends I'll bet none of them would vote any different. After all Johnson and the ERG's Tory rebellion on May's deal was a success. It achieved it's objective and got him (and them) to this

Not forgetting the minor detail of him winning a General Election by a landslide

Now HE IS a winner

Just a bit of a shame that in order for him to be a winner, he has had to take the UK to where we are today

On the basis he had an oven ready great deal and to end the end the uncertainty. Elected to GET BREXIT DONE - he hasn't

Or are we saying in usual Brexit fashion, whether he got Brexit done or not, thats what I voted for?

A vote cast for an unspecified outcome which, whatever is delivered, is my default - "thats what I voted for" / in a sort of Andy Pipkin style ?

Actually, he's ultimately the loser in a no-win situation, and probably knows it: If we don't get a deal, it'll be an economic and logistic cluster**** that he'd have to take responsibility for having created - admittedly it's not great for the EU either, but as the EU is the worlds largest economy (6x the size of the UK's) the effect is going to be mitigated. However, if Johnson does sign off on a deal, the hardcore Brexit faction in both the tory party and elsewhere will turn on him for surrendering.

Unfortunately, we probably have to wait until May 2024 to do anything about it, but at least the realities of Brexit will have fully played out by then.

Unless of course an election delivers a result that you find palatable?

Well under our system more than 4m people voted UKIP, more than the SNP, yet didn't deliver a single seat in parliament, the irony being UKIP campaigned on the basis the EU was undemocratic, but under their system they had many seats in the EU parliament, how very peculiar....

Yep like I said its failed us all, our system is unrepresentative. Incidentally it looks like Tory support in the red wall is collapsing. Again, I'm sorry but these guys are gonna hit you hard

I’m rather looking forward to 2024 Election, a Labour Government will restore harmony to the board and hopefully all this bickering between our fans will be a thing of the past, I pray that the Cons don’t sneak again as this place will implode. [emoji23]

Bloody Worthing!
No electric cars at Toyota Derby till the mid 2030's

More victims, I'm sorry

Like you I read this with a sense of gloom - I don't want to see a single job lost though Brexit (well other than the likes of Rees Mogg, Baker and the other loons that got us into this mess).

But I looked up the Derby result in the referendum - 58/42 in favour of leave. If they knew then what they know now then surely........................But of course they were fed the line that it was all Project Fear - and believed it.

I've always had a soft spot for automotive manufacturing in the UK, since the late 80's and the emergence of the EU SM we became the favoured spot to serve the European market. So many factories despite no longer having a major UK brand

But since 2016 its been almost constant decline. Notably Tesla set up their Gigafactory in Berlin and Dyson favoured Singapore on the back of an FTA with the EU

These last 5 years have destroyed vital opportunities across the industry in some of our poorest areas

With the fixed term parliament act being axed it could be sooner. Never voted Labour myself especially being in an LD seat, but did join as a supporter to get Kier elected if only to introduce a grown up into the room.

Is Keir a grown-up? He seems unable to make strong decisions as he straddles the fence with a blushing type of look upon his face.
