Much as I detest this Tory government, when Nissan pulls out, and Sunderland's economy completely collapses, they really will not be 100% to blame.

Nigel Farage, the Daily Mail, David Cameron, Tommy Robinson, Jeremy Corbyn, Laura Kuenssberg and the BBC, and the wantonly ignorant / gullible / selfish among the UK electorate, all take their little share.

Yes agree with you on the English exceptionalism, some hard lessons will be learnt. But going after the conned doesn't help, the con men (and the odd woman) need to be held to account for their crimes.

The EU/US deal is going to be a bit different, in that they have somewhat greater clout than the UK, and yet even that deal, currently shelved, did not include agricultural products.

I can't understand how the EU is able to be so tough to negotiate with if they need us more than we need them, and we hold all the cards?

We are not going to get an EU deal - that much is clear as crystal. Not with the current Prime Minister anyway - we'll have to wait for the next one, or the PM after that.

Best put all our focus on doing the best possible deal with the USA now. Not that that will make up for the end of year ruin, but it'll be a start.

It wasn't quite name calling, but I couldn't resist replying to some rabid Farage supporters. Nigel Farage got chased out of Edinburgh yesterday by SNP supporters with two taxi drivers refusing to drive him.
These Farage supporters were slagging off Nicola Sturgeon and the Scots, so I just replied 'They want their country back'.

No USA trade deal anytime soon. The USA has told the UK that they want to sort out their trade deal with the largest trading bloc in the world before they negotiate anything with the UK.

Best thing mods can do is move this thread to other. This is a football forum, and NSC is a much nicer place without this horrible thread hanging around now.

Although both leavers and sensible (ex) remainers have voiced a similar view, it's worth remembering this thread now serves as a therapeutic outlet for the small rump of extreme Europhiles who never came to terms with the 2016 result. Now we have finally left and a landslide majority Tory government is in charge for the foreseeable future they are in a particularly fragile state of mind so need a special safe space/echo chamber to reinforce their prejudices rather than accept reality and move on with their lives.

In the coming months and years, UKplc will, most likely, broadly perform in line with other major economies, the forecast disasters failing to materialise so instead, they will have to seize on individual negative news items rejoicing in any job losses that occur, especially in Brexit voting constituencies.
