They voted for "Brexits", not Brexit.

But finally we are discovering what Brexit actually is, and its nothing like what was promised in June 2016

Plenty of time for it still to change though. Imagine what it must be like, 3.5 years after the referendum and still not finding out what it was you voted for

How can do many people have been so wrong? :lolol:

Alice laughed: “There’s no use trying,” she said; “one can’t believe impossible things.”

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

'Boris' promised them 31st October, so they believed him. Simple.

Anyone know any good ditches they can recommend for midnight on Thursday?

To be fair to some of those quoted, there is still a chance the UK could leave this year (on 1st December) if Johnson doesn't get his election either today or tomorrow and so brings the WAB back, but that seems a fairly remote possibility.

Any MP that votes for this deal is basically pouring petrol over the union jack while a fire rages nearby. The true enemies of the people...

It has down us a power of good. I had two children and didn't get maternity benefit or leave in 1970 & 1973.

Your implication is that the EU ( or EEC as it was then ) forced the introduction of maternity leave - it didn't. The UK started the process by itself in 1975 and it wasn't until 1993 that the EU regulations kicked in. By which time the UK was ahead of the regulations.

Blimey you have far too much time on your hands if you had to put that lot together

Stalky McStalkface has form endlessely trawling through thousands of posts, unsurprisingly he hasn't dug out all the quotes from Remainers on this thread saying we were heading for a no-deal disaster .. for that to have happened they must have believed Boris would succeed in taking us out on the 31st.

50% of women didn't qualify for maternity leave in the UK for 15 years, because of the number of years needed leading up to it.
The EU regs expanded the entitlement.

I’ll admit, I was pretty sure at one point a few weeks ago that we would crash out on the 31st. Not because I believed what Johnson was saying but because I had no faith in anyone stopping him.

But stopping him do what? Well, nothing. That’s all he had to do to crash us out. The one thing I trusted and still trust Johnson to do is absolutely nothing.

It’s obvious Johnson’s only plan on taking power was to sit back, do nothing and let us crash out meaning he’d deliver what he promised with zero effort. Seems he had as little faith in democracy as me. He didn’t count on parliament resisting.

Assuming we get an election in early December - Boris will be campaigning on a manifesto of give me a majority and the Brexit deal already agreed with the EU will get done, we will finally leave .... Lib Dems ignore democracy Revoke ... Labour we will renegotiate a really really good third withdrawal agreement deal (taking how long?) that the EU said they won't do then campaign against it in a second referendum and also let the SNP have one ...
