The sad reality. We made a moral contract with the population that if they said we should leave the EU we would do so.

We have to be the best we can be and do just that.

It doesn't matter if people were thick, racist or conned. It doesn't matter if we don't understand the reasons. It doesn't really even matter that malign foreign actors meddled away in the background.

We said it, we do it.

But we do it in the best, least damaging way.

And then we fix what needs fixing. Fast.

The last thing we need is Farage and worse a Farage-- gaining ongoing influence with their snake oil.

Is the least damaging way destruction of the Union of the UK and an economic hit to our nation similar to that global financial crisis?

If this deal goes through we will be dealing with Brexit and the consequences of Brexit for at least a decade, A lot of people are going to be in for a nasty shock

As for Farage, Brexit or no Brexit he will still be hanging around. I wouldn't be surprised if he joined the Tories.

Silly old bat
People will not understand that.

Keep our word. Then fix it.

The morality was destroyed in the High Court in February 2019. The media should be reporting that more strongly. The NCA shouldn't be sitting on evidence on Aaron Banks. Morality is being bought & sold by the highest bidder.

If we leave & then reapply, we would most likely lose the many benefits like vetoes, promises of no more bail outs, and good rebates. Germany & France are envious of the deal we have at present.

Reality is gonna hurt, its a bit like a salesman winning the argument but losing the sale

If the union has to go, it has to go.

I suspect we will take a wrong turn at the very start, but this can be pretty quickly corrected with an EFTA pivot, and paid for EEA access. Which will avert financial crisis type meltdown. And then we can improve and evolve this solution over time. We'd have kept our word.

The alternative is to be arrogant enough to think half the population 'got it wrong' after refusing to accept and admit that we just find it impossible to understand their motivations.

I cringe everytime I hear the vacuous 'remain and reform' soundbite. The 'reform' part will be forgotten in minute 1, even if we had enough power to carry it through.

Norway++ and Switzerland++ are better than Germany++, but it is now a very tricky path to get there, maybe unfortunately beyond our statecraft currently, and we'll probably make a false start or 2 on the way.

not according to the official economic impact analysis, predicting reduced GDP growth over the next decade but no decline in GDP.

(though i expect a recession in that period regardless, so will be difficult to say)

You seem pretty casual about the Union, our influence in the world is waning anyway, that really would be the nail in the coffin, it would be years and years of argument on top of Brexit.

Just can't see a hardline Tory government going for EFTA with paid access, it would kill the Scottish Indyref2 fox, I wish

As for reform, well if we vote in clowns from UKIP and Brexit its little surprise we have poor representation in Brussels.

Face it, the Tories spending plans are as if Brexit didn't exist. The reality is very different, it gonna hurt and the little people that bought the Snake Oil are gonna take the hit.

I wish I could bury my head and say I don't give a sh1t about those less well off than myself, but I just can't do it. Its so obvious what these con artists are up to...

First call on James O'Brien' s LBC show was an absolute classic, absolute blind faith in the " Deal " and Johnson despite not knowing anything about the deal!

You keep saying this but it goes against what a hell of a lot of leavers voted for. You'd still have freedom of movement for people, the vast majority of EU laws (verbatim) and still be paying a hell of a lot to Brussels. You might think this is better than our current deal but many, many voters wouldn't (on both sides).

In a bit over 3 years we're gonna from sunny uplands. easiest deal in history, German car industry will come begging to things won't be as bad as the GFC. F**k we've fallen a long way

I can't remember the last time a Brexiter on here posted a good news Brexit article related to our decision in 2016

Still perfectly achievable with the Johnson deal - by no definition 'lies'.

Now whether Johnson has the desire to get there is highly suspect at present. Which is why I expect an initial wrong turn.... but the pivot back on track is an easy one.
