Closing down Parliament is not democracy.
Not willing to be scrutinised by Parliament is not democracy.

Johnson is acting like a tinpot dictator

I think you will find he is enacting the will of the electorate, something no one else has been willing to do, so that is very democratic in my book.

From a firm remainer.

Surely closing down Parliament including Select Committees, with no option to bring back Parliament during the lengthy closed down period is far more important, and is a serious political and democratic crisis for this country.

Polls are divided on how the country feels now about BREXIT.

Polls are firm in saying that only a third or just over want a hard BREXIT.

Johnson is pushing towards this because the small number who put him there insist.

He has made an almost unprecedented step to ensure it happens and some of those who were very forceful in saying it would never be allowed have fallen in behind.

So let us be in no doubt. The prime minister has subverted our democracy to firm his position to hold support from the right wing media and appease a third of the population -some of which may be uncomfortable with his actions. But the propaganda machine is in full swing.

- A remainer who is now committed to BREXIT but only in a way that ensures the social and economic future of our country is minimally disrupted.

Not worth getting stressed over.

He can play his little games - but there are always consequences.

First things first eh. Worry about a post EU election if there is an election after we left. Your offer to re enter still confirms we have already left though in your scenario.

Cant really even envisage the EU coming up with such an offer after we have left. It would require them to rewrite the functioning treaties and redo the conditions of admission according to the accession treaties. Apart from doing that, you will have a bunch of countries saying why are the UK getting special terms in their membership application, we want special terms as well if you are doing two tier membership.
And all this as a 3 month offer?
Think I will file it under wishful thinking…….next door to my “ irrelevant porn” folder.

Wishful thinking indeed; it didn't pretend to more.

If it stopped you doing what you were doing then no harm done.

Or, Parliament blocking the carrying out of the instructions of the people is not democracy. Parliament are acting like tinpot dictators and Johnson is a freedom fighter defending the people from an out of control establishment hell bent on ignoring the answer to the question THEY asked, in a refurrendum THEY voted for, and going back on the promises THEY made in the last general election.

Not wanting a no-deal brexit doesn't mean prefering no brexit to a no-deal brexit.

Not as many people want a no-deal brexit as want brexit however it happens.

A third of people want a no-deal brexit.

Ask people if they would prefer a deal, but want brexit to happen with or without a deal and you will find the numbers to be considerably larger than the third of people who want no-deal.

But they wont. The earnings, life and BENEFITS here are too tempting.

My sister in law is Mexican.

Please, tell me all about the amazing benefits she has both qualified for, and received, since moving to the UK? Can’t wait to hear this.

(Or do you have no actual life experience whatsoever regarding the matter and no ****ing clue what on earth you’re on about, merely regurgitating right wing propaganda that’s been fed into your gullible brain.)

The earnings here and other benefits are good, for example free health care, free childcare, free schooling. Regardless of what you pay in to the system, everyone gets the same.

Great idea, let's ask the people what they want. What form of consultation do you favour? Referendum, citizen's assemblies?

from your response it would appear you are happy EU citizens are abused and that our currency has lost a large percentage of its value. Says it all.

Its a common theme among the leavers here. Chuckling our country down the drain.

All leavers are racist, thick and ignorant.

Many voted purely on wanting EU citizens to leave without knowing anything or wanting to know anything about what the EU actually does.
You can tell by the replies from all the leave thickos that they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
That's why we are in this farcical mess and the country is a laughing stock around the world.
