The mood of the nation hasn't changed one bit as far as Brexit; we are as divided now as we were when we had the referendum. The EU results show this, they show Remain/Leave is more or less split down the middle. Labour and Tory votes don't count as neither can be called a remain or leave party at the moment.

Claire Fox has said some iffy things in the past as have a lot of people, but she's not a bad person, she cares for working people and knows full well that those people have been left behind especially in the north.

I think many would claim Claire Fox's comments are rather more serious than just 'iffy'; are you referring to this?

... from Wikipedia
'In April 2019, Fox was criticised by the Morning Star, a socialist daily, and by Robert Griffiths, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain, for her view that the Government of the United Kingdom should not ban people from watching child porn or Jihadi terrorist videos. She has also attracted criticism for her support for the Irish Republican Army in the past. A Brexit Party spokesperson commented on the criticism of their candidate Fox "It's a desperate attempt to cause trouble"'

Great post. Which is why all this "will of the people" business is nonsense.

She's against censorship by the government she not in anyway pro-child abuse. As far as IRA go she is from Irish heritage and she did believe that Ireland was being occupied and after bloody sunday and so many other atrocities by the British that the IRA were needed, (it's not an argument I agree with) but at the time "the troubles" were seen as Black and White and by a lot of people still are to an extent, especially here in Britain we view the troubles and Irish history through Union Jack lenses and always have.

You are manipulating what I say and lying again. Voted pro- or anti- recut does not make you racist. Voting for and supporting a party with a racist leader does. That is all.

To be fair Plooks, if you purely wanted to show support for a hard Brexit, it was either UKIP or Brexit Party, there wasn't an option that was totally clean.

West, West, West Sussex.
You have left out remoaner, the original slant.

Didn't Remoaner come after the referendum?
Remainers have been calling brexiters thick since the campaigns for the referendum started. I was a Remainer/Fence and ended up voting out mainly because I couldn't stand shoulder to shoulder with remainers talking down to less fortunate people than themselves.

Fair answer. Thank you.
I still think her pronouncements are irresponsible, if not plain wrong!

And all I said is IF he support a racist views he is one. If he does not he is not.

No you didn't. You said anyone that voted for The Brexit Party was racist ( and you spelt it incorrectly for a number of posts ! ).

I get what you are saying but it seems that your vote (like many other people's) is guided by your emotions rather than argument and evidence. I think emotions have now taken over from reason - and that's not good.

I have to ask, if you voted again, purely on the people you would be standing with, would it be Leave or Remain?

Mods won't do anything about it seeing the are all for remain so happy for the insults to pass

On the poll of this thread, 5 voted “Remain”, 2 voted “Leave”; 71% Remain. The poll itself - 69% Remain. The balance of the mods who have voted could not be more representative of the view of those users who have voted if they’d been recruited solely on their stance on Brexit.

Surely doing some research would have been better to make an informed choice? I try not to be condescending or talk down to others, but on here some things that have been said are so blatantly untrue it's difficult not to sound that way.

This is interesting: the first detailed examination of the results

http://https://lordashcroftpolls.com/2019/05/my-euro-election-post-vote-poll-most-tory-switchers-say-they-will-stay-with-their-new-party/

Two things immediately stand out: Tories are in big trouble if this analysis is correct (Labour can see a way back, but it's not all roses for them either). Given that this analysis is from a Tory peer, this must be particularly depressing.

And the EU elections were even better for Leave than the headline results, given that more voters had voted for Remain than Leave in the referendum.

This is conspiracy theory nonsense and I expected better of a normally reasonable poster (except when it comes to cyclists  ).

Britain is doing just fine. The whole irony about Brexit, however, is that it seeks to strengthen Britain's position as a nation state outside of a Federal Europe and yet, because of the way we'd structured Northern Ireland post Good Friday, Brexit existentially threatens the Union. That's been my point for a while now. I'm remain because leave is legally impossible, as we are seeing, not because of this stuff around the edge about racism and liberal elites.

As for the rest the monarchy is thriving thanks to the modern forward thinking of Diana's kids. That mental health documentary with the footballers just the latest in a series of ways that a younger and more modern monarchy is setting the tone. When The Queen finally pops her clogs the choice will be between an elderly green activist with his own organic food company or a young, modern, mentally well adjusted Prince.

I certainly don't see the church on its uppers either. Personally I find religion to be nonsense but the government is finding ever more creative ways to ensure attendence by prioritising Church and Free schools over council run ones, knowing some misguided middle class mums will pretend to pray instead of getting involved with their local failing school to improve it. The Holy See is hardly broke.

Globally we're seeing a return to nationalism all over the world as globalisation hits the world'd poorest. From right wing takeovers in Eastern Europe, to Israel, to Trump's trade war with China the world is becoming MORE isolationist, not less.

Gees, bit harsh GB old boy, merely paraphrasing what many academia experts also concur! The populace is more diverse than ever before, look at us for example exacerbated by further identification as Europeans rather than British never mind Anglo British of white Caucasian slightly to the left and following a PL team ‘race’!
Anyway, we shall see...revolution is coming... ;)
