The results, although meaningless are sad. Sad because some of the UK have willingly voted for a racist. A racist who doesn't believe in leaving the EU but who will use any ticket to gain power. A shameful day for the UK. Shameful.

To be fair, there has been an upsurge in voting for the far right across not only europe but the world over. In general election terms, we still fair very well comparitively in terms of the % of far right votes compared to many other countries, including in western Europe.

One of two things are possible. The majority of voters have voted for a racist. Or you are wrong about him being a racist. I wonder which of those is most likely.

FFS stop calling people you don't like racists. It's beneath you. It's a cheap way of dismissing someone as immoral so you don't have to deal with the complexities and nuances of the issues and the arguments.

So many people behaving in this way, being ready to cheaply throw around accusations of racism, which dishonors the victims of actual racism and undermines and obfuscates the very real fight against racism which should be fought. That's what is sad.

I don't use the word lightly.

Yeah Ok, well when I hear Nigel Farage say something racist, or advocate for something racist, or do something racist, I'll believe he is racist.

Until then though I won't.

Until then, I'm just going to remain convinced that you are happy to call someone you don't like a racist, when they aren't, because it makes you feel righteous and virtuous without actually needing to be either.

If you are going to lend your support to a racist you are going to have to accept people criticising that man. I’m sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable.

The only thing making me uncomfortable is you using accusations of racism in a way which would likely make most real victims of racism pretty uncomfortable.

When are you going to realize that you are no friend of the victims of racism, you undermine the fight against racism. You play politics with it.

People who are victims of racism have two kinds of enemy. Racists, and people like you.

That’s quite a common way to dismiss accusations of racism. I’ve heard it a number of times and it’s always rather weak.
A tad shameful too, making yourself out to be a champion of the victims of racism whilst simultaneously supporting a racist.
But don’t fret, these are confusing times and you’re not the first to go down the wrong road while struggling to find answers and security.
Happens to the best of us. I’m told.

Didn't see him in front of his big poster in the brexit vote a few years ago then? I suppose you don't class that as racist though and will now defend him.

I’ve already posted a list of pretty despicable things Farage has done and said, quite a few of which are unequivocally racist. Including that poster. But they seemed to be ignored. Don’t acknowledge it and it’ll go away it seems.

Which one ?

There are now more Alexandra Phillips MEPs than there are Conservative MEPs or Labour MEPs in the South East.

A quite convincing majority supported the new Brexit Party which it should be remembered was only launched SIX weeks ago.

Should it come to an election and they ran fundamentally on the one issue which divides the nation then you would find you would have a PM called Nigel Farage as all the Remain votes would be divided into all the other remain parties such as Lib Dem, Green, whereas the Leave voters would be drawn to only one Party, BREXIT.

Tread carefully UK politicians

The only English way to decide this BREXIT impasse is with a Tut-off. Both sides find the person who is most mildly perturbed and slightly disappointed and bring them to Trafalgar Square. The pigeons then poo on them and the representative who tuts in the most understated yet noticeable way wins.

As patently ridiculous as that sounds and as catastrophic for the U.K. as that would be, I wouldn’t put anything past “the great British public “ at this point.

I really hope, for once on this thread, that the mods do their job and remove posts from people like you that spread fake news and lies.

Given you've just called anyone who voted for the Brexit Party a racist I assume you'll be happy for the mods to remove your posts too ..... being your statement is a lie ?

Again, if you support a party run by a racist what does that make you?

So just to make crystal clear here, you are calling me a racist because I voted for an anti-EU party ? Be careful how you tread Plooks !

Do explain how 'that' poster was not racist then. And how does stating that Farage is a racist undermine the fight against racism whereas the image and message he so proudly promoted doesn't contribute to bigotry?
