Great news but sadly a drop in the ocean compared to the haemorrhaging in the past couple of weeks

30 going out 165 at my husband's place. He's ok (for now).
They export to Europe, and were taken over by Americans in 2015. It's a manufacturing firm.

More to do with restructuring and dropping some of their existing product lines, that's what my friend told me. I know the firm you are talking about, because he is one of them that is going. He is glad to be going.

There were interviewing locals around the Airbus factory on Ch4 News.

One women immediately started going on about sending money to Brussels and even re-surfaced the old bendy banana tale.

Another old git admitted his son worked at Airbus but said he would vote again regardless. Dunno if I could do that to my own kids and look them in the eye....

This is the problem though isn’t it for years this country has ridiculed the EU and peddled mistruths like this. The majority of the country have shown no interest we don’t even bother showing up when we elect representatives (which is how Farage ended up elected).

Now everyone wants to undo years of negative rhetoric and is desperately trying to paint the positives of membership (which of course there are many). If we had promoted a more positive message of inclusion and driven policy from inside rather than sit on the outside and lap up stories of a EU superstate and army then we might not be in this mess in the first place.

For my part the whole thing has been a poorly handled disaster and make us a laughing stock globally. The sooner someone is government just ends the whole farce the better

Yes dropping some of their product lines, because the market isn't there.

Are they all glad to be going?

You get this sort of answer a lot.

“It’s not Brexit, they’re making redundancies” ....because of Brexit
“It’s not Brexit , they’re just relocating”...because of Brexit.

There only so long these fools can keep ignoring it all and making excuses. I now have zero doubt we will crash out of the EU with no deal. This county will become chaos overnight.

Leavers, your stupidity has cost this county dearly. Hang your heads. Shame on you.

'No deal' is not going to happen, trust in Meg.

She called it 7 months ago, and when has she ever been wrong

It really is all over isn't it.

Firstly, the fantasists. It has finally dawned, even on Two Professors, BigGully, pastafarian and Pretty pink fairy, that Theresa May failing to negotiate a deal doesn't equal their 'No deal'. Even their massive joint intellect has realised that 9 months is insufficient time to put in place borders, customs points and systems to manage the WTO default rules and tariffs and that any failure to get a deal will actually mean further EU extensions on steadily worsening terms. Tick Tock Indeed.

Then we get to the 'Just get on with it' brigade. The Government can't even put together a white paper on Trade and Borders to start negotiations with the EU. Ask beorhthelm, portslade seagull and GT49er what they think Theresa May should do differently or what they believe should be done on the border issue and the trade deal and they can't give a coherent solution. So what we are going to 'Get on with', nobody knows, least of all, them.

Lastly, we get to the people who seem to have a grasp of the implications of Brexit, Westdene Seagull and JC Footy Genius (Sorry gentleman, the very definition of damning with faint praise). Even they are reduced to avoiding the main issue with forays of whataboutism where they win the occasional argument.

Two years on from the vote, 9 months from us 'leaving' the EU what have we got ? Two possibilities

1/ Softest of soft Brexits, significant contributions, no influence whatsoever.

2/ Continued fudging/Further extensions of membership until another vote (GE or referendum).

But this is what we voted for, and this is the reality of where this total clusterf*** has got us,

But who could have seen this coming

I see you're back posting more Jefferson Group tweets. I guess you missed my question yesterday

Just trying to inject a little bit of positively. I also hear your points. Think in the end, things will balance out.

I don't wish to appear rude but why do you think 'in the end, things will balance out'. I'm genuinely interested in what you believe is going to happen over the next 3 months to support this level of optimism ?

While I partly agree with you, you must remember how often on here remainers have posted anything negative they can find and blamed it on Brexit - particularly if it's been posted on twitter *cough* TB.

There were redundancies going on well before Brexit was ever dreamt of. There still would be redundancies going on if we'd voted to stay. Equally there will be redundancies because of Brexit. The problem being that remainers will continue to blame all bad news on Brexit and leavers will continue to post the opposite.

As a leaver I've always accepted there will be some bad medicine to be taken .... the difference between me and a remainer is that I think it's worth taking.

Unfortunately, I think that your preferred 'no deal' Brexit would mean you drowning in an ocean of bad medicine long before it took effect :)

Well I needn't worry as you've made clear my preferred option actually can't and never will happen

I wonder what is about the anarchy and chaos of no deal that appeals to you Westdene?

Panic on the streets of London?
Panic on the streets of Birmingham?

I wonder to myself.

Panic on the streets of Carlisle?
Dublin, Dundee, Humberside?

I wonder to myself.
