But as I understand it, equipment over many counties is not standardised, and I doubt that many countries will think of anything other than their own armament industry. And, furthermore, who will coordinate an EU Army's deployment, because you can bet your life that their will be powers of veto, when an individual government doesn't like the mission. Would the Spanish government, for example, be happy if the British asked for EU support, should the Argentinians again try their luck at the Falklands. Yes, this conflict would be thousands of miles away, but an attack on one is a call to others to action, surely. Or would we be happy, if the Spanish asked for EU military action to put down a rebellion in Catalonia? Far from being coherent, as you assume, it will become an unwieldy force that, I strongly suspect, will end up shying away from any decisive action due to the politicians refusal to take the flack.

And 27 other countries can veto what we view to be in our best national interest .. and there are numerous areas where we don't have a veto .. and your favourite (supposedly non EU) organisation the ECJ has primacy over UK law in many areas. Politicians have been continually pooling/surrendering sovereignty to the EC/EU for decades .. anyone pretending otherwise is either woefully misinformed or being deceitful.

Fairly well agreed now that an EU army is pretty much inevitable given the foundations of The Defence Union have been formed with The Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) pact, even though us Denmark and Malta opted out..........its just a matter of when.
