Agree it’s complicated but we have plenty of wealth disparity in this country that needs to be addressed and levelled out before we start throwing billions at others in need. Anyway I’m not looking for an argument as there is too much of that going on in this thread and people seem to have lost the ability to have a constructive discussion

We lent Portugal a sum of money a few years ago, which has been repaid in full.

Boris is reported to have said that if this is Brexit then we might as well not bother. If only we could have seen this happening 2 years ago. The only options that would be acceptable to EU were

A) softest of soft brexits
B) no deal

Given that it is now obvious that no deal cripples our economy it is either A or nothing. Remember this is our opening negotiating position so will only get softer. Lots of talk about going against will of the people etc but for anyone who voted based on a lie (for either side) it was not necessarily their will. Fun week ahead.

We should take the insidious clown on his words, even the extreme Brexitears are caving in under reality

I believe in the Labour Party and the basic socialist principles. However, no way I could vote foe a party lead by JC.
So, I like Kier Starmer. He looks as though he could be the type of leader, the Labour Party needs to get back into power.
Thing is, he seems too clean. What am I missing?

Gove on Marr saying we will accept EU rule/law etc. unless we don't like it under this planned arrangement, as we will be a sovereign nation, albeit suffer the consequences if we do.

That's exactly what we have at the moment, we have always been able to refuse to accept EU law, as a sovereign nation, albeit suffer the consequences. It's ridiculous!

I wonder if the cabinet brexiteers have been shown something that makes them realise that leaving is a bad idea? Might it be that they are better placed to make a decision than the average man in the street?

Personally, I think this is the worst deal imaginable - for either those that want to leave and those that want to remain.

This is a fudge to appease both camps. but it means we are a rule taker.

Being completely out of the EU and its customs union would be a complete disaster for this country for a generation. It would be economic pain, with free trade deals taking at least 10 years. Even then, its no guarantee that we would make up lost ground.

I would much rather stay in the EU. Its far from perfect. But, at least we wouldnt be a complete rule taker than under this deal. We help make the rules in the EU. Not always to our liking, but some are. I would much rather that we be at the centre of Europe, shaping its future, rather than be the moaning, whingebags trying to block everythingthing which maens we are then less listened. We are much more economically aligned thinking wise with the Germans than the French, we really could shape Europe if we put our heart into it.

Bloody Worthing!
I guess we are now about to enter the next phase - the real negotiations (previous iterations being rather fake negotiations). The 'phoney war' is over.

The initial EU reaction is about as warm and fluffy as it gets - but this will not last long. The EU 'side' will already be looking for the soft underbelly of the UK's position. I wonder what they'll target? And I think May will now want to at least appear to go in hard - if only to appease her own Brexiteer wing. So we could be in for a rough ride over the next few months...………….

Sir Bill Cash on Sky News just now sums it up - very unhappy but no ideas, no solutions and blames it on 'remoaners'

This is what we have been trying to say all along. The buzz phrase Take back Control is one big deception. We've always had control.

So you're saying that nobody can leave the European Union because Brussels have all the cards and power to do as they wish?
Isn't this the reason why most voted "out" as no organisation should not have this kind of power it's just bloody ridiculous. The reason why it's a mess is because...
Internal bickering and moaning from remainer politicians
A government leader incapable of being strong and direct
Constant votes on what we can and can't do in parliament
The EU telling us to do everything while they do fack all as always
Big business wants uncontrolled immigration as it suits their need and the liberals also want this even though our infrastructure is creaking at the seems. For a better quality of life you need less people instead of saturating the country with low earners and a poor quality of life.

Just get on with it and leave fully and then we can then start to progress as a nation !!
People are doing everything they can to sabotage it and these politicians are paid by the tax payer and we voted democratically to LEAVE and if they can't do what the voters voted for then they need to be outed ASAP so we can actually do what is required.

What's so great about Europe at the moment or years gone by as it's in a terrible state and is declining at a rate of knots.
The problem with Brussels is that year after year they've gained to much control to quickly and the sooner it's abolished the better Europe will be.

Because we don't want to suffer the consequences.
How do you know what the consequences will be?
Maybe when we leave we can really start to spread our wings and be in control of our own destiny just like all the other big guns outside Europe but the problem is the weak liberals and remainers don't have the ambition or desire to progress and they're followers not leaders !!
