Did anyone watch breakfast time on the Beeb a minute ago, where the old guy living in Spain for the last 14 years said he voted to brexit as he wasn't happy with all the immigrants. The irony of his situation was lost on him.

During the negotiations I hope that EU citizens rights are preserved and given indefinite leave to remain. I hope immigration policy remains fairly liberalised to ensure continued cultural and economic exchange that enriches this country so much, and finally I also hope that the govt is able to secure our continued right to move and trade freely with the continent.

The way they have for the last 40 years - did I say i was a remainer ? I guess that your next assumption will be that I'm poor ?

I don't suppose it could have occurred to you that I may be retired, very well off, with a couple of kids who have had an excellent education with very good jobs and I just don't like to see people taken advantage of.

So you are just talking about the UK elected government, how exactly does the EU facilitate the rich getting richer here in the UK and if it does surely you needed to vote Leave .............

The UK is split down the middle on Brexit, and the Scots are angling for a second independence referendum. It's absolute garbage to suggest the UK is united. And a shit deal will divide the country even more. It's a total mess. This Britain we're talking about, not the ****ing Balkans.

Probably just continue to do what it was doing - attracting the top European talent to our shores and liberal labour markets that are able to supply labour to demand. It was not perfect but no system is. I have no idea how Brexit will benefit this country economically.

Why double standards?They have already had a referendum on independence quite recently,if I remember rightly,and voted quite clearly to stay in the Union.Do you want the EU-type referendums in this country-keep voting till you get the answer you want?

I make the point in the light of May's agreement that Scotland can have a referendum but 'not until all the facts are known'. She says, in other words, that they shouldn't have a referendum until they have the details of what they are voting on. Compare that to the situation across the UK as a whole, where the notion of a further referendum when we 'have the details of what we are voting on' is regarded as an original sin. May demands that the Scots should have the details, but that the Brits as a whole shouldn't.

The best strategy for a united Great Britain, for a positive future, to heal divisions in our lives after the EU is clearly to gloat. Well done you, I'm sure this is the best way to put the Great back.

I suppose that if the Scots did go it would be technically incorrect for the country to ever describe itself as Great Britain. It would have to be UK on Olympic shirts in future. It is an interesting irony that centuries of regarding Great Britain as a proud nation would be brought to an end with huge help from the flag-wavers of the Leave campaign.

Not quite sure how you can trigger Article 50 with all this going on.

I would think that sort of attitude would trigger a quick 'Up yours,Delors' moment.But as it's in the Grauniad,& full of the usual caveats like 'it is understood' and 'it is reported',complete with quotes attributed to nonentities,it's just their usual page-filling tosh.

Phillip Hammond seemed to indicate this morning that as the negotiations will be a process of 'give and take' and that we'll still be subject to all rules of EU membership until 30/3/19, The British Government will be perfectly willing to accept this.

You never know, we might be able to attract back some of the 5000+ EU NHS nurses that have left since June.

It may be helpful to consider the UK's post war growth figures (compared to those in the union) for the period up until us joining, and then look at the same statistics for the period after we joined.

As the pound falls back against the dollar and there is the corresponding rise in the globally influenced FTSE, I am awaiting the first ignoramus on here to say look at how positively the markets are reacting.
