Why should this be the case? Given the hostility towards Germany when Greece was going through its financial agonies, and when countries are pushing migrants from one to another, it is not exactly a recipe for peace. It sounds good to say that if we are all together in one cuddly lovely EU, then the threat of war reduces, and this may be the case, but things can change very quickly. To say sweepingly that with Brexit the threat of another war on European soil becomes very real is a huge exaggeration based on no real evidence.

Obviously it's based on no evidence. How could it be? Do you expect the EU to temporarily break up to see if war starts?

The fact is that since it's formation there hasn't been a war. In fact it's been cooperation i.e. The opposite. This is good enough for me; in this case I prefer the known to the unknown.

A few might apply to you, most are what might happen. The only ones for sure are the star deaths and the Albion losing in the play offs.
I hope the recession in 2007 when we were in the EU was kinder to you.

Wasn't that in 2008? seriously mate!! You should stick to agreeing with other posters, it's factually safer.

Not so much. There's a big difference between missing a letter off and not knowing the difference between Europe and the EU. To be honest, if that's the best you can do, I feel sorry for you.

Clampy my old mate, you needed to get the typing correct on that particular post, I felt for you.

I think you have somewhat missed the point of it all. I wasn't pointing out a typo. However, if it really means that much to you please give yourself a clap and a tug. You've done ever so well.

Particularly as we, as members of the EU, have been instrumental in forming much of the legislation.
Nobody said all or indeed any of it was poor legislation,.. but to change or dispose of any of it at some future date... and I mean any of it, we would need the agreement if all the EU states bar none..

It's based on history. The only time mainland Europe hasn't had some kind of war on is between 1918 and 1939 (when it was certainly heading for one much of the time) and post 1945 (I'm not counting civil wars BTW). Post 1945 we had the memory of death, rationing and the use of a nuke to keep us in check. Then people started to realise the need for organisations like the EU. Germany and Greece were never going to go to war because they're trade partners. But a socialist Greece and a Germany with an anti-immigrant faction to their government, both out of the EU and its currency wouldn't be nearly as cosy.

It's posts like this that make me shake my head in despair. It's almost impossible to quantify how much UK legislation emanates from the EU as this article makes clear. It's something between 13% and 62% but really impossible to get an accurate figure.

What will be more interesting is how much EU law is amended after Brexit, my guess is not very much
Keep shaking it mate... the figures are significant and increasing wherever you get your stats.... and none of it can be changed without unanimous agreement from 27 states.

Let's hope Parliament grows some balls and throws Brexit out. I doubt it. I feel we are doomed to meekly accept the misguided will of a small majority that have been led like lambs to the slaughter by Farage and his cronies, out of a Union that has, on the whole, been very good for the UK. It will be a case of following through with the insanity because nobody has the stones to say NO.

Im sure he will come back with his usual excuse for being totally wrong by saying I believe it was 2007 therefore I am entitled to my view so I am right.

One day he may understand the concept of the thumbs up so he doesn't have to post great post or something like that
