I wonder how many MP's voted against the wishes of their constituencies which they represent

DR

More now than there will be in the coming years that's for sure, perhaps they might start to worry about looking for alternative work when the ballot box boots them out.

The conclusion is reached as if the result were the other way round, this would never have been on the agenda. Parliament and the staunch remainers would have continued along as though the referendum had never taken place. Would this fund manager have taken the government to court? Never in a million years.

You really think Arron Banks would have switched to Mute? And don't forget it was The Nigel and his disciples who launched the petition for a second referendum when they thought the Leavers would lose. You say never in a million years. I say you're about a million years out.

Today's court ruling is a worm like slippery disgrace, feeds the votes for UKIP who will now have my Conservative vote......

Labour to be consigned to the history books after this

it could be considerably worse than losing just Labour. UKIP will have a big role in the next election and the fault for this lies with those who cannot accept the result of the referendum.

I should be surprised that you don't know what the effect of losing freedom of movement will be on the lives of our children.

Your right, they might need it to leave the country when it's a ruined overcrowded mess.

Absolutely, most of the vociferous leavers on here were all for parliament seeing this through, maybe what they actually wanted was the right wing of the Conservatives forcing the issue, that's a shame then.

I guess that puts me in the less vociferous Leave crowd then. I am completely comfortable with MPs debating this issue. If, however they take this as an opportunity to thwart leaving the EU then I think many people will lose faith in the willingness of the big business/liberal elite to allow the exercise of freedom of choice. A consequence of this could well be a rise in Donald Trump style politics which is also incidentally on the rise in Europe and is fed by the same liberal disdain for ordinary people. Another consequence will be the end of referendums as if people lack the maturity to accept the result then there really is very little point in their being held.

No. The lawyer was arguing on a technicality, that parliament should be allowed to judge. I was trying, rather clumsily to say, she would not have argued that technicality if remain had won. There are a lot of remainers who suddenly seem very precious about the sovereignty of parliament, somewhat ironic as that was not something high on their agenda before.
