I have my own frustrations about our recruitment - for £200m, I think we’re nowhere near good enough for the investment - but tactically we make the same mistakes at home as we did in FHs first home game. He’s not adapting. He’s not developing tactically. That’s on him. He’s just not very good.
You could say the same about Iraola at Muff - didn't set the world alight first season and look at him now after a season working with his players. But I suppose our fans are in the "we want it now" stage. That's the same with the £200m - that was not spent on PL ready players and by that I mean, those players weren't immediately expected to make a difference, more of a development investment rather than "we want it now" investment. There are subtle differences....

To be honest, the investment question has been done to death on here. It’s old ground. I personally feel our expectations should’ve risen after spending more than any other club in world football, and many others disagree with that stance and enjoy being a club with zero expectations. Both stances are fine, but we are undoubtedly in a confused position as a club where it’s getting quite difficult to please both sides of that argument.

The problem is, as someone with higher expectations, I think we’ve brought in a manager who isn’t particularly good, and who isn’t improving our players, all whilst looking pretty rubbish tactically. If I could see us moving in a positive direction, I’d probably be more willing to let it slide for a season, but personally I’m not seeing the improvement that everyone keeps claiming is happening - I actually think we’re getting worse.

Bournemouth had a very clear style the moment he took over.

We're still a set of fans that boast that we spent the most in the Premier league AND boast that we have the lowest net spend in the premier league. Yes, confused and contradictory. One statement suggests we should be boshing it and the other that we are punching above our weight.

I’m glad at least one other person was watching the actual game yesterday.

The work he put in was incredible. Unfortunately, he kept receiving the ball on the half way line with their whole defence lined up in front of him, because it takes us an age to get the ball to our wingers, and it’s never in good areas where they can isolate a full back. Veltman mainly, but some others as well, missed some really good opportunities to put him into these opportunities and took none of them. It was painful to watch, to be honest.
I sit WSU near halfway line with a very clear view, whenever Gruda got the ball he made no attempt to go down the line to the bye line to cross. He was on to defend and attack and clearly the manager thought de did not do enough so pulled him. Regards Minteh we don't know if would have made the difference but what we do know he was close to MOTM last week. Regards the manager IF his interpretation of events was your a bit late you not playing because of the rules (rather than not enough time to prepare)then he's a poor manager. Clearly none of us know the exact circumstances.
