TNS-BMRB have released a new poll with topline figures of CON 31%(+3), LAB 44%(nc), LDEM 8%, Others 17%(-2). That translates to a 112 seat majority for lab. Thank f*** NSC dosnt represent the rest of the country

Are you sure?
It often think of NSC as a microcosm of society as a whole, and that Tory and Labour views are represented on here in about those proportions.
We also have our fair share of extreme right wing and extreme left wing views, although thankfully following the standard bell curve distribution, these are few, notwithstanding that their voices are disproportionately loud.

In London village.
Don't think it will happen anytime soon even if Boris is fast-tracked as an MP but wouldn't mind betting the Tory hierarchy are very tempted by the thought that Boris Johnson would probably blow Ed Miliband away on charisma alone. Ed looks very feeble as leader even though Labour are doing well in the polls against a wobbling coalition etc so he will get totally owned if Boris becomes Tory leader. I don't think Ed could beat Boris, more likely Boris would trip himself up.

Actually when you listen to Boris when he has his serious head on he does make quite a lot of sense. He certainly gave Ken Livingstone a battering in the Mayoral election campaign, but clearly doesn't have the gravitas or statesman ship to lead the country.

Johnson gets a very easy ride from the London media. If Livingstone did as much bed hopping and as little for the capital as the self-promoting one he would have been slaughtered.

This poll isn't about if you are Tory or Labour, it's just about if you think BJ will ever be PM. :moo:

At least Johnson's not an IRA sympathiser.

Boris is a shrewd man and will be lead the Tories at some point. There is no other Tory heavyweight. Osborne has less charisma than Brown and the tories won't make the same mistake that Labour did.

I think Boris would rather lead in opposition and be up against a weak labour PM than try and oust the current administration. He runs the risk of becoming another Hezza or Portillo, if he over thinks it though.

splendid chap, but PM, seriously not going to happen. it might be a good idea for some to listen to him when he says he has no designs on the job, he's smart enough to know it wouldnt work out.

I think he'd win an election given the chance to run, especially against the current labour set-up. At any rate, he can't be worse than the current incumbents.

People have said he will be the leader of the Tory part but mt PM and I suggested that whoever is leader of the Tory party will be PM. I don't think that he will be either as the present incumbent will be there fora long time.

If him being leader of the Conservative Party makes people want to vote for them, that's one thing.

But we don't vote for a Prime Minister - we never have. He can only win his seat - it's down to others in any given party to win theirs.

He would need to become an MP first. Great character but not sure I would want him as PM.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you don't have to be an MP to be the leader of a political party and therefore you don't need to be an MP to be PM. Regardless, there's plenty of seats he'd win easily.

Not in principle , in practice the party leader has a huge bearing on the way people vote.
