Depends what type of game your group is into.

Mage Knight is an awesome deck building rpg
Axies and allies is a solid war game
Game of thrones board game is an all round good game
Game of thrones lcg is good but complicated
King of tokyo is a great 'take that' game
1 on 1 strategy game you cannot beat twilight struggle

I'm a little surprised yet genuinely chuffed at how many people on here seem to play games. Good times.

NSC games night anyone?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Uno.

Straight forward, easy to learn, simple family card game.

As a devoted weekend player of Magic: The Gathering CCG out here in Dubai, I'd say that it's easy to learn, but tough to master.

There's always new sets coming out - the latest is Origins which traces the history of some of the major characters called planeswalkers.

So much depth to the game as well as about 20 years of history. The World's most played CCG.

For new players, there's a number of options for online play as well, either through MTGO, or the very affordable Duel of the Planeswalkers on Steam.

Whilst there's definitely a geeky stereotype to the game - it's been parodied in South Park and Family Guy - all of the players out here (male and female) are socially adept!

And the regular FNM (Friday Night Magic) events definitely help to get players out from behind their computer screens.

I love it almost as much as the Albion...

Labyrinth by Ravensburger, Has won lots of awards. Super easy to learn. Looks initially like its based largely on luck but the more you play the more you realise how tactical it is. Also Ticket to Ride is excellent.

Race for the Galaxy is another good card game, complex but addictive. Best played with an expansion to the base game.

PIT is a fantastically loud and vibrant card game, loads of yelling especially after a couple of liverners! It has it's own cards so not a 52 pack game

Pit is probably the best non-playing card card game of all time - fantastic fun.

Shithead is a good playing card game ( obviously changed to poohead for the kids )

The seaside.
Get Gears of War board game if you like dungeon crawls. It's by far the best (better than the D&D ones etc) and you can still get it for around £50. Microsoft wouldn't renew the games company's licence so it won't be reprinted and will cost £100s soon. Card game wise, two awesome Aliens style deck-builders are Legendary Encounters and Xenoshyft. Those three are my tips should sci-fi co-ops (my drug of choice) appeal...
