One of the oddest things that came out of today for me was what Paul Samrah said on the phone in. It seems very clear that their is some kind of power shuffle going on. Whether it is as straight forward as Knight v Bloom is hard to say, but I really hope one way or other this is sorted quickly. It was quite clearly at the root of all the problems we have suffered this season and I worry it could effect our plans for next year if it is not sorted quickly. What we need is a very structured and united board, not differing views muddying the waters. I really believe we can do well next season provided the next important summer months are handled correctly. The starting point has to be to appoint Slade NOW and let him start planning for next season.

Probably the Blooms were pissed off at Dicks wonder appointment

I remember him talking about letting the manager manage, but harty made that comment several times over the past couple of weeks, both seem to be the sort that are in the know, but I think insider denied knight was interfering in another thread a week or two back.

I was only half listening to the phone in, so probably missed other stuff. Sorry.

But it was "a unanimous decision" so whichever bloom is also on the board (my understanding is that one of them isn't, officially) shares responsibility for "Dick's wonder appointment".

The board could have voted against it, but didn't. Even if dick had the power/influence to over rule, they could have voted against it as a matter of principle, they didn't. They can't put the blame at his feet alone if they all voted for it.

The board can argue & squabble all they want just make sure that Slade's here in August

That we need unity frrom all sides of the club but most especially from the board which gave the impression that that isnt so at the moment.

My recollection is that he gave an opinion that the appointment of a new manager should be a priority and that the team, management, Board and fans then need to move forward and put the divisions and traumas of this season behind us. I don't remember Paul singling out the Board in the way that you and the thread author seem to be suggesting.

I perhaps misinterpreted it to mean the division between the board either collectively or individually and the manager suggesting that there were divisions at a higher level this season. I agree that he was 110% behind appointing Slade.

I am perhaps slightly biased in that I do not trust Ray Bloom.

In fairness I can't recall the exact words he used, but it certainly seemed to be comments that effectively blamed this season on the board, and the fact that they weren't all together. He was very clear that Slade should appointed quickly, and almost seemed to suggest that the board were yet to agree this.

Maybe I read too much into it, and if I heard it again I might view it differently but it struck me he chose his words carefully and what was inferred was what he meant. In simple terms, to Bloom and Dick, sort it out for the good of the club.

That was my view also.

Thought it was more revealing what Nicky Forster and Tommy Fraser both said in just a few short words.
Particularly our club captain....certainly got us talking in the car home.
