People who blame "foreigners" (usually meaning by that "anyone not white") for their problems/their country's ills, do it because it's an easy explanation and saves them having to think for a second whether they themselves or their ilk might be to blame in any way.

Interestingly, I wonder if the Spanish ever complain about the 300,000 British ex-pats who currently live out there. Are we stealing Spanish jobs? UK gap year students all over Australia- should they be dragged back and told to stop stealing Aussie employment? Or is it different rules when those involved are all broadly the same colour?

There are many Polish (are they not white?) on a building site. Taking our jobs and sending the money back to their family to poland. There are thousands of british builders out of work at present...

Please don't try and get a job in finance - there is more foriegn money coming in to the country than going out. Most foriegn workers have gone home or are going home because the £ has fallen so much.

The reason builders are out of work is down to a world recession which has caused a credit crisis , meaning building work has been stopped.

This is a good point I often raise. A vast number of Brit ex-pats in Spain are OAPs. Whilst they are not 'stealing jobs' they are a huge drain on the Spanish health system's finances. Being old the vast majority are making regular visits to Spanish surgeries and clinics etc. Some almost every day*.

Th fact UK people take so much from another country seems to get overlooked by the bigots who blame 'foreign' people for stealing from Britain.
