It is very difficult with FfP to know what is going on.

Words fail me. As an outsider but someone who follows Brighton and wants them to succeed, im amaized at the negativity.
It's never nice to lose in the play-offs but surely by reaching the play-offs for 2 years running is testament to how far you've come.....league 1, Withdean, 6k fans.

Nope, just to show some kind of forward momentum. we've been much poorer this season than we were last season. And last season we weren't all that. No skin off our noses as individual fans which league we play in, in fact in terms of queues for every damn thing at the Amex, there are certain attractive aspects of the JCLs falling away. However, the chairman would presumably like to be joining the gravy train of the Premier League sometime soon.

Far too much reason and perspective jevs. I think that lots of our so called fans on here have been itching for this result so they can get worked up and act like spoilt children or get angry and throw what little sense they have out of the window.

Derby have built that squad on a shoe strong, and in better financial shape than us. We can't keep bleating about FFP, when we have the biggest attendances in the league.
Why are people suddenly so sensitive to this? I thought by the end of January we had agreed the club had not had their best couple of transfer windows. That losing so many players (either selling or to injury) and not adequately replacing them was going to cost us, and that the summer signings were at best a little uninspiring. Why is mentioning it now suddenly so offensive it deserves some of the responses it has got on here today?

Derby beat us fair and square , we were lucky after 46 league games to grab 6th spot. Perhaps Tony forking out £30M for the new academy and training ground at Lancing will see a change of fortune on the injuries front.

It'll certainly make a difference. There are those that would be happy for us to continue training on the university playing fields because they think that the money for the training ground is coming out of the playing budget, which it isn't.

Thats because the manager has been at fault two years running. Last season, Poyet decided to let personal issues get in the way of team preparation and on the night, everyone was wrong mentally.
Today called for a death or glory approach. The team had to be set up to attack from the start. It didn't matter whether we perished chasing the cause, it was worth the gamble. What we got was a negative approach from the management, desperately trying to cling on to 0-0 for as long as possible and hoping to nick a goal. There was no proactivity at all. Changes only took place when we were two down. It was a poor display from the players but their mindset wasn't right from the start and for that the management must take full responsibility.
The heaviest defeat of the season, in the most important game is a lot to bear. Lets hope that lessons are being learnt.

Apart from CMS, we have not signed any established players for a long time.
Bridcutt - released by Chelsea after no appearances
Bennett - never played for Wolves
Murray - semi-established but with Rochdale.
Barnes - played 22 times for Plymouth, scoring twice.
We are not going to be able to compete with most of our rivals on transfer fees and wages for established players. We need to be more clever and look harder to unearth some more gems.

Yeah spend millions on players,get a good team together...it works,Pompey will testify to that. Lets see what happens with this FFP when it kicks in and teams cannot get in any transferred players,maybe a fine on top....no thank you,stick with Tony and Paul Barbers way.

That's not what he's saying though. He's saying a small increase to keep the talent we have , rather than letting them go for small wage rises (see: Barnes, Ashley) could have made all the difference.
It's actually a totally reasonable point of view. whether you agree with him or not. He's not advocating 'doing a Pompey' or 'throwing millions', just coughing up the going rate for players already on our books.
