Blazing Row in office

Judging by the diversity of the teams 'supported' I wonder just how many of these 'fans' actually watch their teams in the flesh. Over the years I've worked in a number of different environments where their are these armchair fans. I've also worked in various places like Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, Dublin, London (all over London) and a host of other places that have league teams. The vast majority of football fans I met there were people who paid their money to physically support their team, not just sat in from of the television.

My attitude was to dismiss the armchair followers and not fans at all. At least I can say I do actually support my team in person rather than just buying the overpriced merchandise of some team I will never see in real life.

I had a big argument in the office once where I quoted that I went to all the albion games I could and therefore that made me a better fan than gooners in the office who never went to any games.....in that I supported my local team.

It got quite animated at one point.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
All Premiershit "fans" (aka Sky Sports subscribers) have problems coming to terms with their sexuality and are very insecure in their relationships.
I just tell them they should be watching real football at a real club, not some giant multitnational PLC which has about as much social conscience as the average oil company. How many had even heard of Chelski before Abramovitch. Arse are just too tedious to even think about. Manure are merely gold diggers (and their current debt is exactly?). As for scousers...

Totally agree with bhaexpress and Cheshire Cat.

Well done for stick up for the Albion but really who gives a toss what some plastic scouser thinks. When I lived in Liverpool i used to watch Everton and never got anything but sympathy but from the red sh1te it was complete ignorance. I hate Liverpool supporters with a passion and you should not have argued with him but beaten him with a filing cabinet - no more piss take.

The guy is actually a great bloke and a friend so its blown over but I agree best to keep these things out of the work arena but I was wound up by people saying I wasted £ 500 and people who know nothing about the history. You live and learn.
