Proper Black Pudding is the Food of the Gods, one of the best things about working Offshore back in the 90's was our mid morning break where we could devour Black Pudding and Fried Egg Rolls with our cuppa.

Good black pudding is a thing of beauty. Done properly it is truly delicious. Recently got a couple of these from the British Charcuterie Company on line and cannot recommend enough for fans of the genre

Also, I really don't see the point in an animal dying if you're not going to use as much of it as possible. Pretty much everything inside and outside a pig can be eaten and it takes a great chef with a real understanding to do good things with kidneys, trotters and blood.

This.

I have taken recently to buying peculiar cuts of meat (neck, shin, etc) and using it to make stew. Absolutely stunning.

When I went up for the Burnley game I stayed in the Holiday Inn ('Holiday' and 'Burnley' in the same sentence doesn't feel right but I digress.........), and afterwards got the usual 'please fill in our survey about your stay' email. I clicked the link, ticked a few boxes and in the 'any other comments' section expressed how surprised and disappointed I was at there being NO black pudding at breakfast. It was the ONLY thing I'd been looking forward to on that trip. About an hour later I got a reply from the General Manager thanking me for the comment, and saying that he completely agreed and it was something he'd been moaning about ever since he got there in that the hotels should have regional delicacies on the breakfast menu but the CEO wanted the 'corporate brand' (='bland') to be maintained............

I ordered our Xmas dinner beef from Scotland and accidentally included packs of both black and white pudding with the order though :D

Had black pudding fritters with sweet chilli sauce at a pub in Rusper years ago. Shouldn’t work but oh it did.

Can you imagine me breeding a quiet, retiring Vegan who wouldn't notice or mention it ?

And when you know they've got the moral high ground it makes it even harder

No. No I can't :lolol:

Was at an industry conference in November where one of the CEOs speaking talked about how they were trying to make Financial Services more accessible and better priced for the whole of society and how one of their key product tests was diversity. She said her daughter then came back from University for the holidays and told her everything she'd done wrong and how out of date her terminology was

I can, she’s not a vegetarian. :)

I agree. She and I had this discussion. Her nutrition expert (for my sister think Eddie in Absolutely Fabulous, but not as funny) advised her to eat lamb for some deficiency (probably common sense), so my sister decided it was OK to eat lamb and still considered herself a vegetarian. Barking mad doesn't begin to describe it.

One of my oldest friends has a pigpy based signature dish . . .3 ingredients, you can literally go out for football and beers, get home and its perfect ( assuming you set the oven low and actually turn it on )

Cider, pigs cheeks and chorizo.

Hugh Maguire from Co Meath has a multi award winning smoked black pudding which is superb. They used to sell it in Selfridges but the butcher there has changed and no longer stock it so not sure it is available anywhere this side of the Irish sea now although you can order it online direct.

Looks like you can buy smoked Bury black pudding online now so might give that a try.

Another serving suggestion - a little bit of black pudding crumbled into mash potato is very nice.
