A farthing each and I always preferred Fruit Salads. Bought at Walkers at Wilmington Parade on the way to school.

Fruit salad obviously. Used to buy 5 when an old sixpence was worth 2 1/2p. I'm sure both can now be bought as a hand soap pump and fizzy drink in Aldi. I assume it's like drinking cold fizzy vomit.
Texan v Nutty bar!

Seem to recall that blackjacks were 2 for 1/2p in the shop up the steps in Tarring.
But most other shops had them at 1/2p each.

Probably fruit salads over black jacks but depended on my mood.
Agree with @Simster 3-1 ratio about right

I favoured a fruit salad, but liked the blackjacks too. Would alternate between them on my way to school.
Then I got into NFL bubblegum, and collecting helmets / key rings.

Here's a little interesting fact.
For the past 40 years I've been selling Black Jack sticks of rock. This past summer the trade name owner, I guess it's Barrets, sent out warning letters to all the factories making the product telling them to change the name.

When i was a young lad in the 50s you could buy 960 of these for a pound ,when Decimalisation came in 1971 you could then only buy 400 for a pound. I think i wept. The spending power of my pocket money was reduced overnight.
