An exceptional player, we are lucky to have had him. There are not many midfielders who are as outstanding at winning back possession. Thankfully after last season, and more astute young signings coming through, we are just in a position where we won't miss him quite as much.

Great fee considering he would be going for 0m in 11 months, not sure why many are perplexed by this. Also about 20-25k a week in wages off the books too, which would have added up next season had he downed tools whilst running down his contract.

You've missed it, he tweeted just after 11 this morning which included just for you 'My understanding is the fee is more than £25m and there are add-ons.'

Didn’t need to wait long.

Brilliant, every time! :clap2:

And the reverse for when we make a signing, it's always lower than the quoted fee. He is a great mouthpiece for the club.

£30m for a player with one year left. And my view is that his replacement is/will be equally as good.

Effectively, it means Albion have had his services for free.

Can't complain. He didn't want to be here.

Largely agree but Jahanbasshk and Locadia get a lot of mileage in the failure stakes , onwards and upwards , nowt we can do about it if Bissouma wants CL football , i can't help feeling like i'm watching some fit as **** bird whose just given me the ride of my life leave my house never to be seen again....:moo:

You will see her again. She’ll be living in the posh house over the road, but she won’t be happy!

Maybe but also maybe not. I seem to recall him having some great games but also some stinkers in the second half of the season.

To say Biss won us an extra £10m is pure speculation. Selling him for £10m less than we were offered is not.

Look at how many games we won without Biss last season. I think it’s just 1 (one).

My only concern about this is loosing a player who has the ability to win the ball so easily. He seems to endlessly come away with the ball whether he should or shouldn't. Moises is probably a better finisher but Biss was so solid in MF that I don't think we can easily replace that.

Personally I think we already have…

Spurs mate of mine doesn't see how he gets in ahead of Bentancur and Hojberg.

Interesting angle but I can't see Biss going anywhere to warm the bench. Would imagine assurances of playing time have been given.

My Spurs mate saw him play on telly last year and says he's shitehouse.

I know a lot of experts will tell me different, but £25M seems a very low price to me (and looking at Twitter, it looks that way to Spurs and Manchester United fans too). It feels to me that if he'd been moving between two top six teams rather than coming from little old Brighton he wouldn't be as cheap as £25M ... I thought we'd cracked that one with the sale of Ben White last year, but maybe not yet. I'd have liked to see a bidding war too!

Ah well, ultimately it's none of my business - and suggestions from Cantor and co. that it might be a bit more than that are very welcome, if true. Whatever the price though, I am disappointed that it's Spurs he's going to. Much rather it was somewhere else!

No, this is exactly what I tried to explain to you previously. Player with a year or less left on their contract is actually going to be bought / sold for under their peak value (especially when they want away and we have a replacement, i.e. Biss) whereas a player with four years left, who is happy and who we haven't replaced, and possibly can't, (i.e. Cucurella) will be sold for a lot more than their perceived market value or not at all.

The key point here is the Albion being seen not to stand in the way of a player going on to apparently better things. That helps recruitment and the confidence of existing players that they will be similarly well looked-after.

The initial fee being slightly lower than anticipated even at around £30m (not that we will ever know the actual amounts) but with add-ons (which, once again, we are unlikely to find out much about) may reflect doubts about the player's, er, lifestyle. And it's very unusual to get Spurs to stump up before the final days of a transfer window.

That was before Mwepu and Caicedo found their feet. Look at the difference in the West Ham game, first half with Biss, second half without…

Exactly. The future is Bright (on)

This is spot on. As with Ben White if we can say to up and coming talent, come to us and we will be a pathway to top 6/champions league clubs then suddenly our chances of attracting top talent seriously increase.

But I thought hughton was like a father figure to him and then potter was much the same.

You don’t abandon your father for any amount of money.

It may, very likely, reflect his contract situation. "Lower than anticipated" is only true if you dont understand the market.

His agent is his real father figure - the one that took him as a child from Africa to France. Bought him his first pair of football boots when he was playing bare footed on the streets.
