Probably not as many a month after this thread started. It's amazing how five wins on the trot alters perspective!

I'd still rather we'd kept WBG though. It's lucky that Ayari surprised us and turned out to be good though - if we'd had to rely on O'Riley, Wieffer and Gruda to be the defensive pivot alongside Baleba until Hinsh got fit the season might have not gone anything like as well.

A little harsh, whilst l might be tempted to agree re Matt O'Riley, we haven't seen nearly enough of Weiffer yet to see how he might fit in, and as for Gruda, l quite like what l have seen thus far.

Or put our faith in Milner being able to stay fit.

Things have worked out OK for us because of the improvement in Baleba, Ayari being decent and both being physically robust.

I was sorry to see Gilmour go because he was a solid, dependable, established Premier League midfielder. He didn’t 'need time to adjust' nor, like Groß, was he injury prone.

But the ship has sailed.

I think if he'd stuck around he'd have been a key player for us, but it didn't look that way in the summer. The chance to move to Napoli came up and he had to take it, no after timing here - but I do wonder if he regrets making the move, considering the problems we've had in the centre of midfield.
