@Littlemo

He was a bits and pieces CM allegedly giving us tempo with his short passing, in a few games tenacious in the middle, good work rate. But a million miles away from a player able to protect the back 4, because he lacked pace and/or power. Very different player to the likes of Caicedo, Stephens, Bridcutt, Makelele, Fernandinho, Rodri. When he was counter attacked, CM’ers ran past him for fun.

Having let Gilmour leave, it's fortunate that the £50 million we spent on Wieffer and O'Riley have resulted in such a demonstrably dramatic improvement in our Central Midfield options.

That and Milner's reported £70k pw salary.

First on the team sheet when fit last season. Fab na don’t rate him, hardly played him pre season. Says all we need to know.

Napoli moved for Gilmour when FH’s feet were barely in the door. Gilmour wanted out once he heard Napoli wanted him.

Our CM options last season were Gilmour, Gross and then Milner (injured a lot), Dahoud (not good enough/fell out with RDZ), Baleba (first season in PL), Moder (returning from Injury), Hinshelwood (first season in PL).

Is it a wonder BG played so much?

No.

I don’t remember the last time a player for us was as overrated as Gilmour. He ran about a bit and people wax lyrical about it. I don’t remember a single game he won for us through his actions alone, unlike the likes of Alexis and Pascal.

Decent player, nothing more.
I also remember one poster, who shall remain nameless, getting giddy about him not only running around but also pointing a lot and referred to him as a midfield general orchestrating our play. He certainly ran around a lot, maybe he did point a bit, but that’s where it ends.

I suspect he is missed more in the dressing room than on the pitch

You must be one of those toadies I have started reading about.
Shame on you!
Get with the narrative:
Everything about this club is shit, and with your sort of attitude in 96/7 we would of had no club.

Just far enough away from LDC
We definitely do

I think it was common knowledge FH wanted Sir Pascal to stay. . . .
I don't think anyone begrudged his lordship a dream move in his twighlight years.

Our midfield is doing fine . . . . . What we miss most is his SLICE, straight through virtually anything . . . . The stats speak for themselves

no one comes close currently . . . .I think Hinshelwood would have benefitted massively from another year or two with him . . . FH could have learnt a lot as well.
You are spot on. We've lost 2 old heads in lallana and gross (3 if you count milner who could be riding shergar being watched by lord lucan for all we know) and not replaced them.
