theres a surprise , someone makes a post about the rise of the far right, and virtually instantaneously one of our resident right-ons arrives to start bleating about racism.

i'm somewhere between a commie and a hippie, but i think immigration needs to be all but zeroed for four reasons:

1) it accounts for the majority of population rise here, and there are too few resources for this increase to continue
2) the preservation of indigenous culture
3) an operable welfare state
4) to stop the talent drain from countries who need it far more than we do

interesting points but in respect to 2), from my 15 year experience here, and as a crude generalisation of course, it's more a case of the 3rd generation and further back Aussies themselves being a threat to the preservation of indigenous culture than the immigrants who seem far keener to embrace and maintain it..... but maybe that's just Australia

Or maybe it's because the native American or Aboriginals had a clearly defined culture for thousands of years. The British Isles on the other hand has had a constantly evolving Native identity. Meaning when people talk about our identity changing intelligent understand that that's happened for years, and nearly all the things that the BNP and right-wing feel proud about being British are a result of our multiculturalism

Living for many years in the heart of a truly multicultural community and married to someone of different ethnicity to myself I am delighted that this reality genuinely reflects much of what has always been great about Britain.

Sadly it remains open to doubt whether that continues to be the case if the level of racism and bigotry displayed on this forum of late is genuinely reflective of the wider society. So far I am encouraged that is not the case. Were it so I would undoubtably be looking to leave and as it stands my engagement with this board will increasingly diminish.

Immergration DOES need to be cut, and this is comming from a Left Wing supporter. But not on NG's "ethnic identity" criteria, just because we can't stretch to fit our resources at the present time to the needs of those entering the country. Immergrants do work, and its only the few who don't, and DO scavange off of the state that the BNP basis its views on ALL immergrants. BNP OUT!!!

Diverse ethnicity in a population does not equal "racial tension" (unless you listen to nick griffin and his like). In most cities across the UK people manage to live in reasonable harmony and racial tension has to be whipped up by bigots whose aim, whether considered or not, is to destroy communities.
