As we have already established, the Biggest city in England that as never had a top flight team, is now Plymouth. I Believe that Hull used to also be the biggest city in Europe without a top flight team, I believe that honnour now falls to Wisbaden in Germany.
I remember reading somewhere that the Largest place In england to never have a PROFESSIONAL (meaning the top 4 divisions) football team in England is Wakefield (as many on here have already stated).

But that's surely only if you count Wakefield as the entire district (in which case it beats Plymouth anyway). If you're only counting Wakefield itself, it's beaten by several places including Gloucester - which I think might be the biggest without pro football.
If we're talking about ever... Have Tranmere ever been in the top flight? If not then Birkenhead is the correct answer.
EDIT: Brighton is the correct answer, Birkenhead comes second.

The question is not about now and it's not just about the Prem - it's about which place has never seen top-flight football.
Leeds and Brighton both clearly have been in the top flight

No,no............I meant Brighton and Hove were then two towns,so grammatically you should say HAVE, not HAS.The qn as stated asks which town,so technically neither Brighton,nor Hove,nor Brighton and Hove (city) Albion have been in the top flight,though have been jointly represented in the past.
Though I'd PREFER it to be Plymouth.

Hull is/was just a town on 6th july 1897 a royal charter signed created the city of KINGSTON upon HULL. Just a small point
