That stupid argument that Duffy wouldn’t drop with Sanchez was the final straw I think

Did he play again after that? I can't remember which game it was now.

Neither here nor there
Shane needs minutes at this stage of his career, he didn’t get them last season, and unlikely this season. Selfishly a very good player to have in reserve but not really fair on him.

Agree with all that, and unless I missed something, it always seemed to me that Shane never sulked about his lack of game time, and was an integral part of the group even when he wasn't playing.

We often hear that players are only looking out for themselves and their own (short) careers, but Shane comes across as a genuine team player and a good person to have around. Certainly in recent times.

Indeed, a player who wore his heart on his sleeve. The dressing room will miss his presence too. Good luck at Fulham, you have earned your move.

Good for Duffy - surprised that Fulham took him. As has been said - he doesn't really suit their style of play - and unfortunately he is in decline. I wouldn't be shocked to see him only playing a bit part role at Fulham.

It’s a different Fulham to the last EPL iteration.

This Fulham will be centred around Mitro and his scoring rather than keeping him on the bench like what happened in their last EPL foray.

You’ll get Mitro up front with a Groß style No.10 behind him along with two DMs and two defensive walls at the back. They will set-up just like our first EPL team did with Hughton in my opinion.

At the end of my tether
I really don’t understand the logic of lending players to clubs in the same division. I know that he cannot play against us but he will be telling Fulham exactly how to exploit any defensive weakness that he knows of. It is not beyond imagination that Fulham and ourselves might be competitors in a relegation battle. If he strengthens them , which they must believe he will, then it weakens our position

Also the impact on the dressing room will be felt. Remember what happened after Big Dan Byrne left ?

That was over and done with ages ago, Shane is simply the sort of player who opens his mouth before he thinks sometimes, and l'm positive has nothing to do with him moving on.

The long and short of it is that he loves being out there playing, gets very frustrated having to keep the bench warm, (that's if he is included in the squad at all), and at 30 needs to be playing every week. We all know that isn't going to happen here.

Sad to be losing him of course, l loved him too, but only right after giving the Albion everything for several seasons now, that he gets this move which he obviously wants.

It's the first sign that the club no longer believes it's in the same division as the promoted sides.

Over a 100 PL games for us and 55 caps for the ROI. That's a brilliant signing for a notoriously porous Fulham. If Silva plays to his strengths, he'll really shore them up.

Depends which Shane they get? The own goal Shane at the end of his time at Blackburn (?) or the Shane of the magnificent Dunk n Duffy partnership? The Shane at Celtic or the Shane of those first few games on his return to the Albion afterwards? Wish him well though, been a very good player overall for us. Thought he'd still be worth a £5-6m fee tbf though.

I'm glad Shane gets to continue in the Prem. Yes, the move makes sense for all concerned but with Biss, Duffy and Cucu moving on that's a bunch of top flight experience gone.

What a great signing Shane was. We'll be talking about that Dunk and Duffy partnership for years to come. Good luck Shane!

What did he cost us? £8M* was it? - and we got £2M from Celtic for the loan*. I think we've had our money's worth.

Fulham fans seem to think he's going there to warm the bench........................

* No, I don't have proof any of the figures are right, but they were widely guesstimated at the time.

One of my favourte players for us over the years and the years of prime Dunk & Duffy were epic and a joy to watch! Best of luck to him.
