Bielsa has to be sacked because of his gung ho tactics and his inability to build a big and decent enough squad. Why didn't they sign Weghorst, instead of Burnley? He's the sort of attainable striker they are crying out for.

Managers come and go... games are won or lost... but at the end of the day somewhere around 15 PL teams are going to end up within three places from their place in the wage league. Only Brentford spend less on wages than Leeds. Brighton spend 15th most on wages... and I wouldnt be surprised to see the team end up within three positions from that.

The impact from managers is quite overrated. Quality on the pitch is what matters.

That’s nonsense…… The manager/coach sets the tactics and makes the adjustments. Their impact is key otherwise why bother even preparing.

As Potter’s number one fan, do you seriously think we would have had the same impact this season under somebody else?
I would question the wages comment as well, but [MENTION=31]El Presidente[/MENTION] would confirm for sure. The likes of Rodrigo didn’t join for low wages…. (The actual three places generally is probably accurate though).

Look. They're getting smashed every week. They simply don't adapt. And its Bielsa's CHOICE to work with a small squad, hence there's no strength in depth when they lose key players (which happens to EVERY club).

He's left Leeds ill-equipped to deal with injuries, and he has stubbornly stuck to his man-marking tactics which routinely gets pulled apart. A good manager is a pragmatic one who can adapt. That is clearly not Bielsa. He's a spent force, he'll be gone at the end of the season, so they're better off getting rid now and bringing someone in who ca shore them up. Because if they stick with this bloke, they could easily go down. Easily.

I can only assume you haven't actually watched Leeds this season. Or lately.

Going gung-ho every game might give the media a hard-on. But they have now conceded 60 (SIXTY) goals, in 26 games. Given that, I don't see how you cannot question how the manager is setting up that team.

He has failed to recruit. And he has failed to adapt. Thats on him.

I dont think his tactics are wrong. They have good attacking players in Raphina, Harrison, Bamford (when fit) and James (when playing in his right position) and they have a pretty poor defense. So what do you do? Attack. Play to the strengths of the team. With the players they have, they are more likely to grab a 4-3 win than try to defend themselves to a 1-0 win somewhere.

Hasenhuttl actually went on and managed to steady the ship there after a couple of isolated abject humiliations. After losing 9-0 at home to Leicester, they went to Man City and got a 0-0. Do you see that with Bielsa ? They're getting regularly humped.

A managers job is to get the best out of his TEAM, not just his attacking players. Surely he's been there long enough to get a defence organised ? We could all play Championship Manager and load our team with attacking players hoping to outscore the oppo to cover up deficiencies at the back. But in the real world - in the Premier League - that just ain't gonna cut it.

He's a busted flush. He's about 80% of the problem there now.

Yes I think so. Probably under a number of managers. My reasons for liking him is not based on his quality (although he has plenty of that). Football is supposed to help people and make their lives better... if I have a kid and that kiddo plays football, I want his coach to be inspired by Graham Potter and not some of the plethora of batshit crazy blame-game Mourinhoesque managers out there, I dont want my or anyone elses kids to be told how shite they are and how they are the cause of everything bad.

Also I get entertained by the style of football GP prefers (which is a bit different to how Brighton plays a lot of times, but you can only work with what you have).

I sort of agree with the job description but I dont think Bielsa is far from getting the best out of his team. They dont have a particularly good team and has failed with most of their signings since going up (which, yes, possibly is partially Bielsas fault - although who knows how they work with recruitment?).

its easy to say "just sort the defense out" but its more difficult in reality... you could hire Klopp, Guardiola and Cruijff as your personal coaching team, they would never make a Premier League player out of you. Similarly I dont think any coach would be able to make Robin Koch or Diego Llorente anything less than shite against (for example) Kane and Son.

But you’re talking individuals.

The skill of the manager is setting the formation, the improvement of individuals is arguably a by-product of that.

Chris Hughton (whether NSC like it or not), kept us up because of our defensive shape, that is through good coaching. I wouldn’t say Bong is better than Cucurella.

Potter has taken us a step further, by maintaining a sound base and extending us offensively, this is about tactics and good coaching, the players are playing to a system dictated by someone else.
