but they took the bet??

All bookies have limits on payouts. Except by special arrangement for high value punters. They have to have a maximum liability. Usually nowadays 1m any one punter any one day.

He should have only put £16.67 on as the limits are no secret...That's why he's a stable lad and not a mathematician though

He won a lot more than a million, he was crashed on his sofa with a hangover from the previous days doubles & trebles, all winners at 10/1+, when the final leg came in

Why accept a bet if you have no intentions on paying it out?

Alot of accumulators say millions and millions of pounds but if ya read the small print there is always a maximum payout rule. Think a Mill is a bit low though.

Would they of refunded him £30+ had it lost ??

No clearly not.

I agree the 1 mill limit is a bit low too !

But surely his betting slip would have said £3,000,000 or whatever the total is. It isn't that difficult to code in a IF total_payout >=1000000.01GBP THEN PRINT "1000000GBP" (or similar)

If you bet online your potential winnings are shown. In this case, even if the arithmetic added up to £3m the potential winnings would have clearly shown as £1m.

Not if he took SP.

Bet365 are best odds guaranteed though, so he would have had the minimum odds payout. I agree with the consensus on this, they've been a bit naughty here, they shouldn't have allowed him to stake enough to get more than the £1million. The fact that it is online, you'd think their system would be smarter.

The fact that they are BOG is immaterial if the race hasn't been priced up yet. As it was Cheltenham the races probably were already priced up but this is the exception rather than the rule.

Fair point, I hadn't considered that.

He placed the bet in December. The prices he took were ante post. BOG has nothing to do with it, neither does SP.

So if one of his horses didn't run in the race he selected, which could've been the case with Simonsig, the bet would've lost before the meeting had even started. I dont know the actual details of the bet, the odds he got on each horse, but it is wrong if they took a bet of £50 if infact a bet of say £20 would've triggered their max payout. And you can bet they wouldn't have refunded the difference if it had lost.

They are a joke of a bookie anyhow. Closed my new account after two days of Cheltenham
